Zechariah 9:1–2 — The New International Version (NIV)

A prophecy:

The word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrak

and will come to rest on Damascus—

for the eyes of all people and all the tribes of Israel

are on the Lord

and on Hamath too, which borders on it,

and on Tyre and Sidon, though they are very skillful.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — English Standard Version (ESV)

The oracle of the word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrach

and Damascus is its resting place.

For the Lord has an eye on mankind

and on all the tribes of Israel,

and on Hamath also, which borders on it,

Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

The burden of the word of the Lord in the land of Hadrach,

And Damascus shall be the rest thereof:

When the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the Lord.

And Hamath also shall border thereby;

Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — New Living Translation (NLT)

This is the message from the Lord against the land of Aram and the city of Damascus, for the eyes of humanity, including all the tribes of Israel, are on the Lord.

Doom is certain for Hamath,

near Damascus,

and for the cities of Tyre and Sidon,

though they are so clever.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — New Century Version (NCV)

This message is the word of the Lord.

The message is against the land of Hadrach

and the city of Damascus.

The tribes of Israel and all people

belong to the Lord.

The message is also against the city of Hamath, on the border,

and against Tyre and Sidon, with their skill.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — American Standard Version (ASV)

The burden of the word of Jehovah upon the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be its resting-place (for the eye of man and of all the tribes of Israel is toward Jehovah); and Hamath, also, which bordereth thereon; Tyre and Sidon, because they are very wise.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

The burden of the word of Jehovah, in the land of Hadrach, and on Damascus shall it rest; (for Jehovah hath an eye upon men, and upon all the tribes of Israel;) and also on Hamath which bordereth thereon; on Tyre and Zidon, though she be very wise.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

This is the divine revelation.

The Lord’s word is against the land of Hadrach

and will rest on Damascus

and also Hamath, which borders on it,

and Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.

(The eyes of humanity and of all the tribes of Israel

are on the Lord.)

Zechariah 9:1–2 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

An Oracle

The word of the Lord

is against the land of Hadrach,

and Damascus is its resting place—

for the eyes of men

and all the tribes of Israel

are on the Lord

and also against Hamath, which borders it,

as well as Tyre and Sidon,

though they are very shrewd.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

The word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrach

and will rest upon Damascus.

For to the Lord belongs the capital of Aram,

as do all the tribes of Israel;

Hamath also, which borders on it,

Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

An oracle. The word of Yahweh is against the land of Hadrach,

and Damascus is its resting place.

For to Yahweh belongs the eye of humankind,

and all the tribes of Israel,

and also Hamath, which borders on it;

Tyre and Sidon—yes, they are very wise!

Zechariah 9:1–2 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

This is the Lord’s message

against the land of Hadrach.

He will judge Damascus.

That’s because all of the tribes of Israel look to him.

So do other people.

The Lord will judge Hamath too.

It’s next to Damascus.

He will also punish Tyre and Sidon

even though they are very clever.

Zechariah 9:1–2 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

The burden of the word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrach, with Damascus as its resting place (for the eyes of men, especially of all the tribes of Israel, are toward the Lord),

And Hamath also, which borders on it;

Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.
