10 Be in pain, and labor to bring forth,
O daughter of Zion,
Like a woman in birth pangs.
For now you shall go forth from the city,
You shall dwell in the field,
And to lBabylon you shall go.
There you shall be delivered;
There the mLord will nredeem you
From the hand of your enemies.
11 oNow also many nations have gathered against you,
Who say, “Let her be defiled,
And let our eye plook upon Zion.”
12 But they do not know qthe thoughts of the Lord,
Nor do they understand His counsel;
For He will gather them rlike sheaves to the threshing floor.

Micah 4:10–12 — The New International Version (NIV)
10 Writhe in agony, Daughter Zion,
like a woman in labor,
for now you must leave the city
to camp in the open field.
You will go to Babylon;
there you will be rescued.
There the Lord will redeem you
out of the hand of your enemies.
11 But now many nations
are gathered against you.
They say, “Let her be defiled,
let our eyes gloat over Zion!”
12 But they do not know
the thoughts of the Lord;
they do not understand his plan,
that he has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — English Standard Version (ESV)
10 Writhe and groan, O daughter of Zion,
like a woman in labor,
for now you shall go out from the city
and dwell in the open country;
you shall go to Babylon.
There you shall be rescued;
there the Lord will redeem you
from the hand of your enemies.
11 Now many nations
are assembled against you,
saying, “Let her be defiled,
and let our eyes gaze upon Zion.”
12 But they do not know
the thoughts of the Lord;
they do not understand his plan,
that he has gathered them as sheaves to the threshing floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail:
For now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field,
And thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered;
There the Lord shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.
11 Now also many nations are gathered against thee,
That say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.
12 But they know not the thoughts of the Lord,
Neither understand they his counsel:
For he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — New Living Translation (NLT)
10 Writhe and groan like a woman in labor,
you people of Jerusalem,
for now you must leave this city
to live in the open country.
You will soon be sent in exile
to distant Babylon.
But the Lord will rescue you there;
he will redeem you from the grip of your enemies.
11 Now many nations have gathered against you.
“Let her be desecrated,” they say.
“Let us see the destruction of Jerusalem.”
12 But they do not know the Lord’s thoughts
or understand his plan.
These nations don’t know
that he is gathering them together
to be beaten and trampled
like sheaves of grain on a threshing floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — New Century Version (NCV)
10 People of Jerusalem, strain and be in pain.
Be like a woman trying to give birth,
because now you must leave the city
and live in the field.
You will go to Babylon,
but you will be saved from that place.
The Lord will go there
and buy you back from your enemies.
11 But now many nations
have come to fight against you,
saying, “Let’s destroy Jerusalem.
We will look at her and be glad we have defeated her.”
12 But they don’t know
what the Lord is thinking;
they don’t understand his plan.
He has gathered them like bundles of grain to the threshing floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — American Standard Version (ASV)
10 Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail; for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and shalt dwell in the field, and shalt come even unto Babylon: there shalt thou be rescued; there will Jehovah redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. 11 And now many nations are assembled against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye see our desire upon Zion. 12 But they know not the thoughts of Jehovah, neither understand they his counsel; for he hath gathered them as the sheaves to the threshing-floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail; for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon: there shalt thou be delivered; there Jehovah will redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. 11 And now many nations are assembled against thee, that say, Let her be profaned, and let our eye look upon Zion. 12 But they know not the thoughts of Jehovah, neither understand they his counsel; for he hath gathered them together as the sheaves into the threshing-floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
10 Daughter of Zion, writhe in pain and groan like a woman in labor.
Now you will leave the city,
live in the open fields,
and go to Babylon.
There you will be rescued.
There the Lord will reclaim you from your enemies.
11 But now many nations gather against you.
They say, “Let’s dishonor Zion and gloat over it.”
12 They don’t know the thoughts of the Lord or understand his plan.
He will bring them together
like cut grain on the threshing floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
10 Writhe and cry out, Daughter Zion,
like a woman in labor,
for now you will leave the city
and camp in the open fields.
You will go to Babylon;
there you will be rescued;
there the Lord will redeem you
from the power of your enemies!
11 Many nations have now assembled against you;
they say, “Let her be defiled,
and let us feast our eyes on Zion.”
12 But they do not know the Lord’s intentions
or understand His plan,
that He has gathered them
like sheaves to the threshing floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
10 Writhe and groan, O daughter Zion,
like a woman in labor;

there the Lord will redeem you
from the hands of your enemies.
11 Now many nations
are assembled against you,
saying, “Let her be profaned,
and let our eyes gaze upon Zion.”

the thoughts of the Lord;
they do not understand his plan,
that he has gathered them as sheaves to the threshing floor.

you will go to Babylon.
There you will be rescued;
there Yahweh will redeem you
from the hand of your enemies.
11 And now, many nations are gathered against you
who are saying, ‘Let her be defiled,
and let our eyes gaze upon Zion.’
12 But they do not know the thoughts of Yahweh,
and they do not understand his plan,
that he has gathered them as sheaves
to his threshing floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)
10 People of Zion, groan with pain.
Cry out like a woman having a baby.
Soon you must leave your city.
You must camp in the open fields.
You will have to go to Babylonia.
But that’s where the Lord will save you.
There he will set you free
from the powerful hand of your enemies.
11 But now many nations
have gathered together to attack you.
They say, “Let Jerusalem be polluted.
We want to see others laugh when Zion suffers!”
12 But those nations don’t know
what the Lord has in mind.
They don’t understand his plan.
He will gather them up like bundles of grain.
He will take them to his threshing floor.
Micah 4:10–12 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)
10 “Writhe and labor to give birth,
Daughter of Zion,
Like a woman in childbirth;
For now you will go out of the city,
Dwell in the field,
And go to Babylon.
There you will be rescued;
There the Lord will redeem you
From the hand of your enemies.
11 “And now many nations have been assembled against you
Who say, ‘Let her be polluted,
And let our eyes gloat over Zion.’
12 “But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord,
And they do not understand His purpose;
For He has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor.
