Mark 10:17–21

17 kNow as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I ldo that I may inherit eternal life?”

18 So Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, mGod. 19 You know the commandments: nDo not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’Do not defraud,’ Honor your father and your mother.’ ”

20 And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I have okept from my youth.”

21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, One thing you lack: Go your way, psell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have qtreasure in heaven; and come, rtake up the cross, and follow Me.”

17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

18 Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. No one is goodexcept God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’

20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”

18 Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked. Only God is truly good. 19 But to answer your question, you know the commandments: ‘You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. You must not cheat anyone. Honor your father and mother.’

20 “Teacher,” the man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.”

21 Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. There is still one thing you haven’t done,” he told him. Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
