foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.

you will be named ministers of our God.

You will feed on the wealth of nations,

and in their riches you will boast.

Instead of your shame

you will receive a double portion,

and instead of disgrace

you will rejoice in your inheritance.

And so you will inherit a double portion in your land,

and everlasting joy will be yours.

“For I, the Lord, love justice;

I hate robbery and wrongdoing.

In my faithfulness I will reward my people

and make an everlasting covenant with them.

Their descendants will be known among the nations

and their offspring among the peoples.

All who see them will acknowledge

that they are a people the Lord has blessed.”

you shall eat the wealth of the nations,

and in their glory you shall boast.

Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion;

instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot;

therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion;

they shall have everlasting joy.

For I the Lord love justice;

I hate robbery and wrong;

I will faithfully give them their recompense,

and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

Their offspring shall be known among the nations,

and their descendants in the midst of the peoples;

all who see them shall acknowledge them,

that they are an offspring the Lord has blessed.

Isaiah 61:5–9 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

And the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord:

Men shall call you the Ministers of our God:

Ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,

And in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.

For your shame ye shall have double;

And for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion:

Therefore in their land they shall possess the double:

Everlasting joy shall be unto them.

For I the Lord love judgment,

I hate robbery for burnt offering;

And I will direct their work in truth,

And I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles,

And their offspring among the people:

All that see them shall acknowledge them,

That they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed.

Isaiah 61:5–9 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Foreigners will be your servants.

They will feed your flocks

and plow your fields

and tend your vineyards.

You will be called priests of the Lord,

ministers of our God.

You will feed on the treasures of the nations

and boast in their riches.

Instead of shame and dishonor,

you will enjoy a double share of honor.

You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land,

and everlasting joy will be yours.

“For I, the Lord, love justice.

I hate robbery and wrongdoing.

I will faithfully reward my people for their suffering

and make an everlasting covenant with them.

Their descendants will be recognized

and honored among the nations.

Everyone will realize that they are a people

the Lord has blessed.”

Isaiah 61:5–9 — New Century Version (NCV)

People from other countries will tend your fields and vineyards.

You will be called priests of the Lord;

you will be named the servants of our God.

You will have riches from all the nations on earth,

and you will take pride in them.

Instead of being ashamed, my people will receive twice as much wealth.

Instead of being disgraced, they will be happy because of what they receive.

They will receive a double share of the land,

so their happiness will continue forever.

“I, the Lord, love justice.

I hate stealing and everything that is wrong.

I will be fair and give my people what they should have,

and I will make an agreement with them that will continue forever.

Everyone in all nations will know the children of my people,

and their children will be known among the nations.

Anyone who sees them will know

that they are people the Lord has blessed.”

Isaiah 61:5–9 — American Standard Version (ASV)

And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and foreigners shall be your plowmen and your vine-dressers. But ye shall be named the priests of Jehovah; men shall call you the ministers of our God: ye shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves. Instead of your shame ye shall have double; and instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be unto them. For I, Jehovah, love justice, I hate robbery with iniquity; and I will give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. And their seed shall be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples; all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which Jehovah hath blessed.

Isaiah 61:5–9 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your ploughmen and your vinedressers. But as for you, ye shall be called priests of Jehovah; it shall be said of you: Ministers of our God. Ye shall eat the wealth of the nations, and into their glory shall ye enter. Instead of your shame ye shall have double; instead of confusion they shall celebrate with joy their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double; everlasting joy shall be unto them. For I, Jehovah, love judgment, I hate robbery with wrong; and I will give their recompence in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. And their seed shall be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are a seed that Jehovah hath blessed.

Isaiah 61:5–9 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Foreigners will come forward and become shepherds for your flocks,

and children of foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.

You will be called the priests of the Lord

You will be called the servants of our God.

You will consume the wealth of the nations.

You will boast in their splendor.

You will receive a double measure of wealth instead of your shame.

You will sing about your wealth instead of being disgraced.

That is why you will have a double measure of wealth in your land.

You will have everlasting joy.

I, the Lord, love justice.

I hate robbery and wrongdoing.

I will faithfully reward my people’s work.

I will make an everlasting promiseto them.

Then their offspring will be known among the nations

and their descendants among the people.

Everyone who sees them will recognize

that they are the descendants whom the Lord has blessed.

Isaiah 61:5–9 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Strangers will stand and feed your flocks,

and foreigners will be your plowmen and vinedressers.

But you will be called the Lord’s priests;

they will speak of you as ministers of our God;

you will eat the wealth of the nations,

and you will boast in their riches.

Because your shame was double,

and they cried out, “Disgrace is their portion,”

therefore, they will possess double in their land,

and eternal joy will be theirs.

For I Yahweh love justice;

I hate robbery and injustice;

I will faithfully reward them

and make an everlasting covenant with them.

Their descendants will be known among the nations,

and their posterity among the peoples.

All who see them will recognize

that they are a people the Lord has blessed.

Isaiah 61:5–9 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,

foreigners shall till your land and dress your vines;

but you shall be called priests of the Lord,

you shall be named ministers of our God;

you shall enjoy the wealth of the nations,

and in their riches you shall glory.

Because their shame was double,

and dishonor was proclaimed as their lot,

therefore they shall possess a double portion;

everlasting joy shall be theirs.

For I the Lord love justice,

I hate robbery and wrongdoing;

I will faithfully give them their recompense,

and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

Their descendants shall be known among the nations,

and their offspring among the peoples;

all who see them shall acknowledge

that they are a people whom the Lord has blessed.

Isaiah 61:5–9 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,

and foreigners shall be your farmers and vinedressers.

But you shall be called the priests of Yahweh,

you will be called servers of our God.

You shall eat the wealth of the nations,

and you shall boast in their riches.

Instead of your shame, a double portion,

and instead of insult, they will rejoice over their portion.

Therefore they will take a double portion in their land;

they shall possess everlasting joy.

For I, Yahweh, love justice,

hate robbery and injustice,

and I will faithfully give their reward,

and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

And their descendants will be known among the nations,

and their offspring in the midst of the peoples.

All those who see them shall recognize them,

that they are descendants whom Yahweh has blessed.

Isaiah 61:5–9 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Outsiders will serve you by taking care of your flocks.

People from other lands will work in your fields and vineyards.

You will be called priests of the Lord.

You will be named workers for our God.

You will enjoy the wealth of nations.

You will brag about getting their riches.

Instead of being put to shame

my people will receive a double share of wealth.

Instead of being dishonored

they will be glad to be in their land.

They will receive a double share of riches there.

And they’ll be filled with joy that will last forever.

The Lord says, “I love those who do what is right.

I hate it when people steal and do other sinful things.

So I will be faithful to those who do what is right.

And I will bless them.

I will make a covenant with them

that will last forever.

Their children after them will be famous among the nations.

Their families will be praised by people everywhere.

All those who see them will agree

that I have blessed them.”

Isaiah 61:5–9 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Strangers will stand and pasture your flocks,

And foreigners will be your farmers and your vinedressers.

But you will be called the priests of the Lord;

You will be spoken of as ministers of our God.

You will eat the wealth of nations,

And in their riches you will boast.

Instead of your shame you will have a double portion,

And instead of humiliation they will shout for joy over their portion.

Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land,

Everlasting joy will be theirs.

For I, the Lord, love justice,

I hate robbery in the burnt offering;

And I will faithfully give them their recompense

And make an everlasting covenant with them.

Then their offspring will be known among the nations,

And their descendants in the midst of the peoples.

All who see them will recognize them

Because they are the offspring whom the Lord has blessed.
