31 The voice of the Lord will shatter Assyria;

with his rod he will strike them down.

32 Every stroke the Lord lays on them

with his punishing club

will be to the music of timbrels and harps,

as he fights them in battle with the blows of his arm.

31 The Assyrians will be terror-stricken at the voice of the Lord, when he strikes with his rod. 32 And every stroke of the appointed staff that the Lord lays on them will be to the sound of tambourines and lyres. Battling with brandished arm, he will fight with them.

31 For through the voice of the Lord shall the Assyrian be beaten down,

Which smote with a rod.

32 And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass,

Which the Lord shall lay upon him,

It shall be with tabrets and harps:

And in battles of shaking will he fight with it.

31 At the Lord’s command, the Assyrians will be shattered.

He will strike them down with his royal scepter.

32 And as the Lord strikes them with his rod of punishment,

his people will celebrate with tambourines and harps.

Lifting his mighty arm, he will fight the Assyrians.

31 Assyria will be afraid when it hears the voice of the Lord,

because he will strike Assyria with a rod.

32 When the Lord punishes Assyria with a rod,

he will beat them to the music of tambourines and harps;

he will fight against them with his mighty weapons.

31 For through the voice of Jehovah shall the Assyrian be dismayed; with his rod will he smite him. 32 And every stroke of the appointed staff, which Jehovah shall lay upon him, shall be with the sound of tabrets and harps; and in battles with the brandishing of his arm will he fight with them.

31 For through the voice of Jehovah shall the Assyrian be broken down: he will smite him with the rod. 32 And wherever shall pass the appointed staff, which Jehovah shall lay upon him, it shall be with tambours and harps; and with tumultuous battles will he fight with it.

31 At the sound of the Lord, the people of Assyria will be shattered. 

He will strike them with his rod. 

32 To the sound of tambourines and lyres, the Lord will pound on them. 

He will fight them in battle, swinging his fists. 

31 Assyria will be shattered by the voice of the Lord.

He will strike with a rod.

32 And every stroke of the appointed staff

that the Lord brings down on him

will be to the sound of tambourines and lyres;

He will fight against him with brandished weapons.

31 The Assyrian will be terror-stricken at the voice of the Lord, when he strikes with his rod. 32 And every stroke of the staff of punishment that the Lord lays upon him will be to the sound of timbrels and lyres; battling with brandished arm he will fight with him.

31 Indeed, Assyria will be shattered by the voice of Yahweh;

he strikes with the rod.

32 And every stroke of the staff of foundation that Yahweh lays will be on it with timbrels and lyres,

and he will fight against it with battles of brandishing.

31 The voice of the Lord will tear the Assyrians apart.

He will strike them down with his mighty rod.

32 He will strike them

with his rod to punish them.

Each time he does, his people will celebrate

with the music of harps and tambourines.

He will use his powerful arm

to strike the Assyrians down in battle.

31 For at the voice of the Lord Assyria will be terrified,

When He strikes with the rod.

32 And every blow of the rod of punishment,

Which the Lord will lay on him,

Will be with the music of tambourines and lyres;

And in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them.
