11 This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people:

12 “Do not call conspiracy

everything this people calls a conspiracy;

do not fear what they fear,

and do not dread it.

13 The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy,

he is the one you are to fear,

he is the one you are to dread.

14 He will be a holy place;

for both Israel and Judah he will be

a stone that causes people to stumble

and a rock that makes them fall.

And for the people of Jerusalem he will be

a trap and a snare.

15 Many of them will stumble;

they will fall and be broken,

they will be snared and captured.”

11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with his strong hand upon me, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 “Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. 13 But the Lord of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. 14 And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many shall stumble on it. They shall fall and be broken; they shall be snared and taken.”

11 For the Lord spake thus to me with a strong hand,

And instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

12 Say ye not, A confederacy,

To all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy;

Neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.

13 Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself;

And let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

14 And he shall be for a sanctuary;

But for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel,

For a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken,

And be snared, and be taken.

11 The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said,

12 “Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do,

and don’t live in dread of what frightens them.

13 Make the Lord of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life.

He is the one you should fear.

He is the one who should make you tremble.

14 He will keep you safe.

But to Israel and Judah

he will be a stone that makes people stumble,

a rock that makes them fall.

And for the people of Jerusalem

he will be a trap and a snare.

15 Many will stumble and fall,

never to rise again.

They will be snared and captured.”

11 The Lord spoke to me with his great power and warned me not to follow the lead of the rest of the people. He said,

12 “People are saying that others make plans against them,

but you should not believe them.

Don’t be afraid of what they fear;

do not dread those things.

13 But remember that the Lord All-Powerful is holy.

He is the one you should fear;

he is the one you should dread.

14 Then he will be a place of safety for you.

But for the two families of Israel,

he will be like a stone that causes people to stumble,

like a rock that makes them fall.

He will be like a trap for the people of Jerusalem,

and he will catch them in his trap.

15 Many people will fall over this rock.

They will fall and be broken;

they will be trapped and caught.”

11 For Jehovah spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, 12 Say ye not, A conspiracy, concerning all whereof this people shall say, A conspiracy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be in dread thereof. 13 Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. 14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many shall stumble thereon, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

11 For Jehovah spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and he instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, 12 Ye shall not say, Conspiracy, of everything of which this people saith, Conspiracy; and fear ye not their fear, and be not in dread. 13 Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. 14 And he will be for a sanctuary; and for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

11 This is what the Lord said with his powerful hand on me. 

He warned me not to follow the ways of these people: 

12 “Don’t say that everything these people call a conspiracy 

is a conspiracy. 

Don’t fear what they fear. 

Don’t let it terrify you.” 

13 Remember that the Lord of Armies is holy. 

He is the one you should fear 

and the one you should be terrified of. 

14 He will be a place of safety for you. 

But he will be a rock that makes people trip 

and a stumbling block for both kingdoms of Israel. 

He will be a trap and a snare for those who live in Jerusalem. 

15 Many will stumble. 

They will fall and be broken. 

They will be trapped and caught. 

11 For this is what the Lord said to me with great power, to keep me from going the way of this people:

12 Do not call everything an alliance

these people say is an alliance.

Do not fear what they fear;

do not be terrified.

13 You are to regard only the Lord of Hosts as holy.

Only He should be feared;

only He should be held in awe.

14 He will be a sanctuary;

but for the two houses of Israel,

He will be a stone to stumble over

and a rock to trip over,

and a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15 Many will stumble over these;

they will fall and be broken;

they will be snared and captured.

11 For the Lord spoke thus to me while his hand was strong upon me, and warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what it fears, or be in dread. 13 But the Lord of hosts, him you shall regard as holy; let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. 14 He will become a sanctuary, a stone one strikes against; for both houses of Israel he will become a rock one stumbles over—a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many among them shall stumble; they shall fall and be broken; they shall be snared and taken.

11 For Yahweh said this to me while his hand weighed heavily on me,

and he warned me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

12 “You must not call conspiracy everything that this people calls conspiracy,

and you must not share its fear, and you must not be in dread.

13 You shall regard Yahweh of hosts as holy,

and he is your fear, and he is your dread.

14 And he will become like a sanctuary and a stumbling-stone,

and like a stumbling-rock for the two houses of Israel,

like a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15 And many shall stumble among them,

and they shall fall and they shall be broken,

and they shall be ensnared and they shall be caught.”

11 The Lord put his powerful hand on me and spoke to me. He warned me not to live the way these people live. He said,

12 “People of Judah, do not agree with those who say

Isaiah is guilty of treason.

Do not fear what they fear.

Do not be afraid.

13 I am the Lord who rules over all.

You must think about me as holy.

You must have respect for me.

You must fear me.

14 Then I will be a holy place of safety for you.

But for many people in Israel and Judah I will be

a stone that causes them to trip.

I will be a rock that makes them fall.

And for the people of Jerusalem I will be

a trap and a snare.

15 Many of them will trip.

They will fall and be broken.

They will be trapped and captured.”

11 For thus the Lord spoke to me with mighty power and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

12 “You are not to say, ‘It is a conspiracy!’

In regard to all that this people call a conspiracy,

And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it.

13 “It is the Lord of hosts whom you should regard as holy.

And He shall be your fear,

And He shall be your dread.

14 “Then He shall become a sanctuary;

But to both the houses of Israel, a stone to strike and a rock to stumble over,

And a snare and a trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15 “Many will stumble over them,

Then they will fall and be broken;

They will even be snared and caught.”
