Nor come before it with shield,

Nor build a siege mound against it.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — The New International Version (NIV)

31 Once more a remnant of the kingdom of Judah

will take root below and bear fruit above.

32 For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant,

and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors.

The zeal of the Lord Almighty

will accomplish this.

33 “Therefore this is what the Lord says concerning the king of Assyria:

“He will not enter this city

or shoot an arrow here.

He will not come before it with shield

or build a siege ramp against it.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — English Standard Version (ESV)

31 And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward. 32 For out of Jerusalem shall go a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

33 “Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come into this city or shoot an arrow there or come before it with a shield or cast up a siege mound against it.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah

Shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:

32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant,

And they that escape out of mount Zion:

The zeal of the Lord of hosts shall do this.

33 Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the king of Assyria,

He shall not come into this city,

Nor shoot an arrow there,

Nor come before it with shields,

Nor cast a bank against it.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — New Living Translation (NLT)

31 And you who are left in Judah,

who have escaped the ravages of the siege,

will put roots down in your own soil

and grow up and flourish.

32 For a remnant of my people will spread out from Jerusalem,

a group of survivors from Mount Zion.

The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies

will make this happen!

33 “And this is what the Lord says about the king of Assyria:

“ ‘His armies will not enter Jerusalem.

They will not even shoot an arrow at it.

They will not march outside its gates with their shields

nor build banks of earth against its walls.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — New Century Version (NCV)

31 Some of the people in the family of Judah

will escape.

Like plants that take root,

they will grow strong and have many children.

32 A few people will come out of Jerusalem alive;

a few from Mount Zion will live.

The strong love of the Lord All-Powerful

will make this happen.’

33 “So this is what the Lord says about the king of Assyria:

‘He will not enter this city

or even shoot an arrow here.

He will not fight against it with shields

or build a ramp to attack the city walls.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — American Standard Version (ASV)

31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward. 32 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of mount Zion they that shall escape. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward; 32 for out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of mount Zion they that escape: the zeal of Jehovah of hosts shall do this. 33 Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

He will not enter this city

or shoot an arrow there

or come before it with a shield

or build up an assault ramp against it.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

31 The surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward; 32 for from Jerusalem a remnant shall go out, and from Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

33 “Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come into this city, shoot an arrow there, come before it with a shield, or cast up a siege ramp against it.

Isaiah 37:31–33 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

31 And the remnant of the house of Judah that remain shall grow roots downwards and make fruit upwards.

32 For a remnant shall go out from Jerusalem

and survivors from mountain Zion.

The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this.’

33 Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the king of Assyria:

‘He shall not come to this city,

and he shall not shoot an arrow there,

and he shall not meet it with a shield,

and he shall not heap a siege ramp up against her.

Once more they will put down roots and produce fruit.

Out of Mount Zion will come those who are still left alive.

My great love will make sure that happens.

I rule over all.

33 “Here is a message from me about the king of Assyria. It says,

“ ‘He will not enter this city.

He will not even shoot an arrow at it.
