23 “When you come into the land and plant any kind of tree for food, then you shall regard its fruit as forbidden. Three years it shall be forbidden to you; it must not be eaten. 24 And in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, an offering of praise to the Lord. 25 But in the fifth year you may eat of its fruit, to increase its yield for you: I am the Lord your God.

26 “You shall not eat any flesh with the blood in it. You shall not interpret omens or tell fortunes. 27 You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard. 28 You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.

23 And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of. 24 But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the Lord withal. 25 And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the Lord your God.

23 “When you enter the land and plant fruit trees, leave the fruit unharvested for the first three years and consider it forbidden. Do not eat it. 24 In the fourth year the entire crop must be consecrated to the Lord as a celebration of praise. 25 Finally, in the fifth year you may eat the fruit. If you follow this pattern, your harvest will increase. I am the Lord your God.

26 “Do not eat meat that has not been drained of its blood.

“Do not practice fortune-telling or witchcraft.

27 “Do not trim off the hair on your temples or trim your beards.

28 “Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the Lord.

23 “ ‘In the future, when you enter your country, you will plant many kinds of trees for food. After planting a tree, wait three years before using its fruit. 24 In the fourth year the fruit from the tree will be the Lord’s, a holy offering of praise to him. 25 Then in the fifth year, you may eat the fruit from the tree. The tree will then produce more fruit for you. I am the Lord your God.

26 “ ‘You must not eat anything with the blood in it.

“ ‘You must not try to tell the future by signs or black magic.

27 “ ‘You must not cut the hair on the sides of your heads or cut the edges of your beard. 28 You must not cut your body to show sadness for someone who died or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.

26 “ ‘You must not eat anything with the blood; you shall not practice divination, nor shall you interpret signs. 27 You shall not round off the corner hair of your head, and you shall not trim the corner of your beard. 28 And you shall not make a slash in your body for a dead person, nor shall you make on yourselves a tattoo’s mark; I am Yahweh.

23 “ ‘When you enter the land, suppose you plant a fruit tree. Then do not eat its fruit for the first three years. The fruit is not “clean.” 24 In the fourth year all of the fruit will be holy. Offer it as a way of showing praise to me. 25 But in the fifth year you can eat the fruit. Then you will gather more and more fruit. I am the Lord your God.

26 “ ‘Do not eat any meat that still has blood in it.

“ ‘Do not practice any kind of evil magic at all.

27 “ ‘Do not cut the hair on the sides of your head. Do not clip off the edges of your beard.

28 “ ‘Do not make cuts on your bodies when someone dies. Do not put marks on your skin. I am the Lord.
