Isaiah 33:2–4

2 O Lord, be gracious to us; we wait for you.

Be our arm every morning,

our salvation in the time of trouble.

3 At the tumultuous noise peoples flee;

when you lift yourself up, nations are scattered,

4 and your spoil is gathered as the caterpillar gathers;

as locusts leap, it is leapt upon.

2 O Lord, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee:

Be thou their arm every morning,

Our salvation also in the time of trouble.

3 At the noise of the tumult the people fled;

At the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered.

4 And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller:

As the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.

2 But Lord, be merciful to us,

for we have waited for you.

Be our strong arm each day

and our salvation in times of trouble.

3 The enemy runs at the sound of your voice.

When you stand up, the nations flee!

4 Just as caterpillars and locusts strip the fields and vines,

so the fallen army of Assyria will be stripped!

2 O Lord, be gracious to us;

We have waited for You.

Be their arm every morning,

Our salvation also in the time of trouble.

3 At the noise of the tumult the people shall flee;

When You lift Yourself up, the nations shall be scattered;

4 And Your plunder shall be gathered

Like the gathering of the caterpillar;

As the running to and fro of locusts,

He shall run upon them.

2 Lord, be kind to us.

We have waited for your help.

Give us strength every morning.

Save us when we are in trouble.

3 Your powerful voice makes people run away in fear;

your greatness causes the nations to run away.

4 Like locusts, your enemies will take away the things you stole in war.

Like locusts rushing about, they will take your wealth.

2 O Jehovah, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou our arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. 3 At the noise of the tumult the peoples are fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations are scattered. 4 And your spoil shall be gathered as the caterpillar gathereth: as locusts leap shall men leap upon it.

2 Jehovah, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be their arm every morning, yea, our salvation in the time of trouble. 3 At the noise of the tumult the peoples fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered. 4 And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpillar: as the running of locusts shall they run upon it.

2 O Lord, have pity on us. 

We wait with hope for you. 

Be our strength in the morning. 

Yes, be our savior in times of trouble. 

3 People flee from the noise of ⸤your⸥ army. 

Nations scatter when you attack. 

4 You nations, your loot is gathered as grasshoppers harvest a crop. 

Like swarming locusts, people rush for your loot. 

2 Lord, be gracious to us! We wait for You.

Be our strength every morning

and our salvation in time of trouble.

3 The peoples flee at the thunderous noise;

the nations scatter when You rise in Your majesty.

4 Your spoil will be gathered as locusts are gathered;

people will swarm over it like an infestation of locusts.

2 O Lord, be gracious to us; we wait for you.

Be our arm every morning,

our salvation in the time of trouble.

3 At the sound of tumult, peoples fled;

before your majesty, nations scattered.

4 Spoil was gathered as the caterpillar gathers;

as locusts leap, they leaped upon it.

2 Yahweh, be gracious to us, we wait for you.

Be our arm in the mornings,

indeed our salvation in the time of trouble.

3 At the sound of tumult, peoples fled;

because of your exaltation, nations scattered.

4 And your spoil is gathered,

as the gathering of the locust,

as a swarm of locusts storming on it.

2 Lord, show us your favor.

We long for you to help us.

Make us strong every morning.

Save us when we’re in trouble.

3 When the nations hear you thunder, they run away.

When you rise up against them, they scatter.

4 Nations, what you have taken in battle is destroyed.

It’s as if young locusts had eaten it up.

Like large numbers of locusts,

people rush to get it.

2 O Lord, be gracious to us; we have waited for You.

Be their strength every morning,

Our salvation also in the time of distress.

3 At the sound of the tumult peoples flee;

At the lifting up of Yourself nations disperse.

4 Your spoil is gathered as the caterpillar gathers;

As locusts rushing about men rush about on it.
