Isaiah 27:10–11 — English Standard Version (ESV)
10 For the fortified city is solitary,
a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness;
there the calf grazes;
there it lies down and strips its branches.
11 When its boughs are dry, they are broken;
women come and make a fire of them.
For this is a people without discernment;
therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them;
he who formed them will show them no favor.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
10 Yet the defenced city shall be desolate,
And the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness:
There shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down,
And consume the branches thereof.
11 When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off:
The women come, and set them on fire:
For it is a people of no understanding:
Therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them,
And he that formed them will shew them no favour.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — New Living Translation (NLT)
10 The fortified towns will be silent and empty,
the houses abandoned, the streets overgrown with weeds.
Calves will graze there,
chewing on twigs and branches.
11 The people are like the dead branches of a tree,
broken off and used for kindling beneath the cooking pots.
Israel is a foolish and stupid nation,
for its people have turned away from God.
Therefore, the one who made them
will show them no pity or mercy.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
10 Yet the fortified city will be desolate,
The habitation forsaken and left like a wilderness;
There the calf will feed, and there it will lie down
And consume its branches.
11 When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off;
The women come and set them on fire.
For it is a people of no understanding;
Therefore He who made them will not have mercy on them,
And He who formed them will show them no favor.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — New Century Version (NCV)
10 At that time the strong, walled city will be empty
like a desert.
Calves will eat grass there.
They will lie down there
and eat leaves from the branches.
11 The limbs will become dry and break off,
so women will use them for firewood.
The people refuse to understand,
so God will not comfort them;
their Maker will not be kind to them.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — American Standard Version (ASV)
10 For the fortified city is solitary, a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof. 11 When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off; the women shall come, and set them on fire; for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have compassion upon them, and he that formed them will show them no favor.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
10 For the fortified city is solitary, a habitation abandoned and forsaken like a wilderness; there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume its boughs. 11 When its branches are withered they shall be broken off; women shall come and set them on fire. For it is a people of no intelligence; therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he who formed them will shew them no favour.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
10 The fortified city is isolated.
The homestead is left deserted, abandoned like the desert.
Calves will graze there.
They will lie down.
They will feed on the branches.
11 When the branches are dried up,
they will be broken off.
Women will come and build a fire with them.
These people don’t understand ⸤these things⸥.
That is why their maker won’t have compassion on them,
and their Creator won’t have pity on them.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
10 For the fortified city will be deserted,
pastures abandoned and forsaken like a wilderness.
Calves will graze there,
and there they will spread out and strip its branches.
11 When its branches dry out, they will be broken off.
Women will come and make fires with them,
for they are not a people with understanding.
Therefore their Maker will not have compassion on them,
and their Creator will not be gracious to them.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
10 For the fortified city is solitary,
a habitation deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness;
the calves graze there,
there they lie down, and strip its branches.
11 When its boughs are dry, they are broken;
women come and make a fire of them.
For this is a people without understanding;
therefore he that made them will not have compassion on them,
he that formed them will show them no favor.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
10 For the fortified city is solitary,
a settlement deserted and forsaken, like the wilderness;
the calf grazes there,
lies down there and destroys its branches.
11 When its branches are dry, they are broken;
women are coming and setting light to it.
For it is not a people of understanding;
therefore his maker will not have compassion on him,
and his creator will not show him favor.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

They will be deserted settlements.
They will be like a desert.
Calves will eat and lie down in them.
They will strip the branches of their trees bare.
11 When their twigs are dry, they will be broken off.
Then women will come and make fires with them.
The people of Jacob don’t understand the Lord.
So the One who made them won’t be concerned about them.
Their Creator won’t show them his favor.
Isaiah 27:10–11 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)
10 For the fortified city is isolated,
A homestead forlorn and forsaken like the desert;
There the calf will graze,
And there it will lie down and feed on its branches.
11 When its limbs are dry, they are broken off;
Women come and make a fire with them,
For they are not a people of discernment,
Therefore their Maker will not have compassion on them.
And their Creator will not be gracious to them.
