You made them a littlea lower than the angels;

Hebrews 2:5–7 — English Standard Version (ESV)

For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. It has been testified somewhere,

“What is man, that you are mindful of him,

or the son of man, that you care for him?

You made him for a little while lower than the angels;

you have crowned him with glory and honor,

Hebrews 2:5–7 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

Hebrews 2:5–7 — New Living Translation (NLT)

And furthermore, it is not angels who will control the future world we are talking about. For in one place the Scriptures say,

“What are mere mortals that you should think about them,

or a son of man that you should care for him?

Yet for a little while you made them a little lower than the angels

and crowned them with glory and honor.

Hebrews 2:5–7 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. But one testified in a certain place, saying:

“What is man that You are mindful of him,

Or the son of man that You take care of him?

You have made him a little lower than the angels;

You have crowned him with glory and honor,

And set him over the works of Your hands.

Hebrews 2:5–7 — New Century Version (NCV)

God did not choose angels to be the rulers of the new world that was coming, which is what we have been talking about. It is written in the Scriptures,

“Why are people even important to you?

Why do you take care of human beings?

You made them a little lower than the angels

and crowned them with glory and honor.

Hebrews 2:5–7 — American Standard Version (ASV)

For not unto angels did he subject the world to come, whereof we speak. But one hath somewhere testified, saying,

What is man, that thou art mindful of him?

Or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Thou madest him a little lower than the angels;

Thou crownedst him with glory and honor,

And didst set him over the works of thy hands:

Hebrews 2:5–7 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

For he has not subjected to angels the habitable world which is to come, of which we speak; but one has testified somewhere, saying, What is man, that thou rememberest him, or son of man that thou visitest him? Thou hast made him some little inferior to the angels; thou hast crowned him with glory and honour, and hast set him over the works of thy hands;

Hebrews 2:5–7 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

He didn’t put the world that will come (about which we are talking) under the angels’ control. Instead, someone has declared this somewhere in Scripture:

“What is a mortal that you should remember him,

or the Son of Manthat you take care of him?

You made him a little lower than the angels.

You crowned him with glory and honor.

Hebrews 2:5–7 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

For He has not subjected to angels the world to come that we are talking about. But one has somewhere testified:

What is man that You remember him,

or the son of man that You care for him?

You made him lower than the angels

for a short time;

You crowned him with glory and honor

Hebrews 2:5–7 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Now God did not subject the coming world, about which we are speaking, to angels. But someone has testified somewhere,

“What are human beings that you are mindful of them,

or mortals, that you care for them?

You have made them for a little while lower than the angels;

you have crowned them with glory and honor,

Hebrews 2:5–7 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

For he did not subject to angels the world to come, about which we are speaking. But someone testified somewhere, saying,

“What is man, that you remember him,

or the son of man, that you care for him?

You made him for a short time lower than the angels;

you crowned him with glory and honor;

Hebrews 2:5–7 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

God has not put angels in charge of the world that is going to come. We are talking about that world. There is a place where someone has given witness to it. He said,

“What is a human being that you think about him?

What is the son of man that you take care of him?

You made him a little lower than the angels.

You placed on him a crown of glory and honor.

Hebrews 2:5–7 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

For He did not subject to angels the world to come, concerning which we are speaking.

But one has testified somewhere, saying,

What is man, that You remember him?

Or the son of man, that You are concerned about him?

You have made him for a little while lower than the angels;

You have crowned him with glory and honor,

And have appointed him over the works of Your hands;
