Ezekiel 19:1–2

1 And you, take up a lamentation for the princes of Israel, 2 and say:

What was your mother? A lioness!

Among lions she crouched;

in the midst of young lions

she reared her cubs.

1 Moreover take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel, 2 And say, What is thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps among young lions.

1 “Sing this funeral song for the princes of Israel:

2 “What is your mother?

A lioness among lions!

She lay down among the young lions

and reared her cubs.

1 “Moreover take up a lamentation for the princes of Israel, 2 and say:

‘What is your mother? A lioness:

She lay down among the lions;

Among the young lions she nourished her cubs.

1 “Sing a funeral song for the leaders of Israel. 2 Say:

‘Your mother was like a female lion.

She lay down among the young lions.

She had many cubs.

1 Moreover, take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel, 2 and say, What was thy mother? A lioness: she couched among lions, in the midst of the young lions she nourished her whelps.

1 And thou, take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel, 2 and say, What was thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps in the midst of the young lions.

1 Sing a funeral song for the princes of Israel. 2 Say: 

Your mother was like a lioness. 

She lay down among the lions. 

She fed many cubs. 

1 “Now, lament for the princes of Israel 2 and say:

What was your mother? A lioness!

She lay down among the lions;

she reared her cubs among the young lions.

1 As for you, raise up a lamentation for the princes of Israel, 2 and say:

What a lioness was your mother

among lions!

She lay down among young lions,

rearing her cubs.

1 “And you, raise a lament about the leaders of Israel, 2 and you must say,

‘What a lioness was your mother

among the lions.

She lay down in the midst of young lions,

and she reared her lion cubs.

1 “Sing a song of sadness about Israel’s princes. 2 Say to Israel,

“ ‘You were like a mother lion to your princes.

She lay down among the young lions.

She brought up her cubs.

1 “As for you, take up a lamentation for the princes of Israel

2 and say,

‘What was your mother?

A lioness among lions!

She lay down among young lions,

She reared her cubs.
