Ezekiel 31:5–6 — English Standard Version (ESV)

So it towered high

above all the trees of the field;

its boughs grew large

and its branches long

from abundant water in its shoots.

All the birds of the heavens

made their nests in its boughs;

under its branches all the beasts of the field

gave birth to their young,

and under its shadow

lived all great nations.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth. All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — New Living Translation (NLT)

This great tree towered high,

higher than all the other trees around it.

It prospered and grew long thick branches

because of all the water at its roots.

The birds nested in its branches,

and in its shade all the wild animals gave birth.

All the great nations of the world

lived in its shadow.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

‘Therefore its height was exalted above all the trees of the field;

Its boughs were multiplied,

And its branches became long because of the abundance of water,

As it sent them out.

All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs;

Under its branches all the beasts of the field brought forth their young;

And in its shadow all great nations made their home.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — New Century Version (NCV)

So the tree was taller

than all the other trees in the countryside.

Its limbs became long and big

because of so much water.

All the birds of the sky

made their nests in the tree’s limbs.

And all the wild animals

gave birth under its branches.

All great nations

lived in the tree’s shade.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field; and its boughs were multiplied, and its branches became long by reason of many waters, when it shot them forth. All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs; and under its branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young; and under its shadow dwelt all great nations.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long, because of great waters, when he shot forth. All the fowl of the heavens made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all the great nations.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

That is why it grew taller than all the other trees in the field.

Its branches became large and long because of so much water.

All the birds made their nests in its branches.

All the wild animals gave birth to their young under it.

All the powerful nations lived in its shade.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Therefore the cedar became greater in height

than all the trees of the field.

Its branches multiplied,

and its boughs grew long

as it spread them out

because of the plentiful water.

All the birds of the sky

nested in its branches,

and all the animals of the field

gave birth beneath its boughs;

all the great nations lived in its shade.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

So it towered high

above all the trees of the field;

its boughs grew large

and its branches long,

from abundant water in its shoots.

made their nests in its boughs;

under its branches all the animals of the field

gave birth to their young;

Therefore it became tall,

with its height more than all of the trees of the field,

and its branches became numerous,

and its branches became long

from its sending its shoots from abundant water.

In its branches all the birds of the heaven made their nest,

and under its branches all the animals of the field gave birth,

and in its shadow all the many nations lived.

Ezekiel 31:5–6 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

So it grew higher

than any other tree in the fields.

It grew more limbs.

Its branches grew long.

All of the birds of the air

made their nests in its limbs.

All of the wild animals

had their babies under its branches.

All of the great nations

lived in its shade.

And all great nations lived under its shade.
