Acts 6:15–7:3

15 And gazing at him, all who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

1 And the high priest said, “Are these things so?” 2 And Stephen said:

“Brothers and fathers, hear me. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran, 3 and said to him, ‘Go out from your land and from your kindred and go into the land that I will show you.’

15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

1 Then said the high priest, Are these things so? 2 And he said,

Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, 3 And said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.

15 At this point everyone in the high council stared at Stephen, because his face became as bright as an angel’s.

1 Then the high priest asked Stephen, “Are these accusations true?”

2 This was Stephen’s reply: “Brothers and fathers, listen to me. Our glorious God appeared to our ancestor Abraham in Mesopotamia before he settled in Haran. 3 God told him, ‘Leave your native land and your relatives, and come into the land that I will show you.’

15 And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel.

1 Then the high priest said, “Are these things so?”

2 And he said, “Brethren and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, 3 and said to him, ‘Get out of your country and from your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.’

15 All the people in the meeting were watching Stephen closely and saw that his face looked like the face of an angel.

1 The high priest said to Stephen, “Are these things true?”

2 Stephen answered, “Brothers and fathers, listen to me. Our glorious God appeared to Abraham, our ancestor, in Mesopotamia before he lived in Haran. 3 God said to Abraham, ‘Leave your country and your relatives, and go to the land I will show you.’

15 And all that sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

1 And the high priest said, Are these things so? 2 And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken: The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, 3 and said unto him, Get thee out of thy land, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall show thee.

15 And all who sat in the council, looking fixedly on him, saw his face as the face of an angel.

1 And the high priest said, Are these things then so? 2 And he said, Brethren and fathers, hearken. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, 3 and said to him, Go out of thy land and out of thy kindred, and come into the land which I will shew thee.

15 Everyone who sat in the council stared at him and saw that his face looked like an angel’s face. 

1 Then the chief priest asked Stephen, “Is this true?” 

2 Stephen answered, “Brothers and fathers, listen to me. The God who reveals his glory appeared to our ancestor Abraham in Mesopotamia. This happened before Abraham lived in Haran. 3 God told him, ‘Leave your land and your relatives. Go to the land that I will show you.’ 

15 And all who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at him and saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

1 “Is this true?” the high priest asked.

2 “Brothers and fathers,” he said, “listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he settled in Haran, 3 and said to him:

Get out of your country

and away from your relatives,

and come to the land

that I will show you.

15 And all who sat in the council looked intently at him, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

1 Then the high priest asked him, “Are these things so?” 2 And Stephen replied:

“Brothers and fathers, listen to me. The God of glory appeared to our ancestor Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran, 3 and said to him, ‘Leave your country and your relatives and go to the land that I will show you.’

15 And as they looked intently at him, all those who were sitting in the Sanhedrin saw his face was like the face of an angel.

1 And the high priest said, “Is it so concerning these things?” 2 So he said, “Men—brothers and fathers—listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was in Mesopotamia, before he settled in Haran, 3 and said to him, ‘Go out from your land and from your relatives and come to the land that I will show you.’

15 All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked right at Stephen. They saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

1 Then the high priest questioned Stephen. “Is what these people are saying true?” he asked.

2 “Brothers and fathers, listen to me!” Stephen replied. “The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham. At that time Abraham was still in Mesopotamia. He had not yet begun living in Haran. 3 ‘Leave your country and your people,’ God said. ‘Go to the land I will show you.’

15 And fixing their gaze on him, all who were sitting in the Council saw his face like the face of an angel.

1 The high priest said, “Are these things so?”

2 And he said, “Hear me, brethren and fathers! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,

3 and said to him, ‘Leave your country and your relatives, and come into the land that I will show you.’
