Psalm 88:1–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

Lord, you are the God who saves me;

day and night I cry out to you.

May my prayer come before you;

turn your ear to my cry.

I am overwhelmed with troubles

and my life draws near to death.

I am counted among those who go down to the pit;

I am like one without strength.

I am set apart with the dead,

like the slain who lie in the grave,

whom you remember no more,

who are cut off from your care.

Psalm 88:1–5 — English Standard Version (ESV)

O Lord, God of my salvation,

I cry out day and night before you.

Let my prayer come before you;

incline your ear to my cry!

For my soul is full of troubles,

and my life draws near to Sheol.

I am counted among those who go down to the pit;

I am a man who has no strength,

like one set loose among the dead,

like the slain that lie in the grave,

like those whom you remember no more,

for they are cut off from your hand.

Psalm 88:1–5 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

O Lord God of my salvation,

I have cried day and night before thee:

Let my prayer come before thee:

Incline thine ear unto my cry;

For my soul is full of troubles:

And my life draweth nigh unto the grave.

I am counted with them that go down into the pit:

I am as a man that hath no strength:

Free among the dead,

Like the slain that lie in the grave,

Whom thou rememberest no more:

And they are cut off from thy hand.

Psalm 88:1–5 — New Living Translation (NLT)

O Lord, God of my salvation,

I cry out to you by day.

I come to you at night.

Now hear my prayer;

listen to my cry.

For my life is full of troubles,

and death draws near.

I am as good as dead,

like a strong man with no strength left.

They have left me among the dead,

and I lie like a corpse in a grave.

I am forgotten,

cut off from your care.

Psalm 88:1–5 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

O Lord, God of my salvation,

I have cried out day and night before You.

Let my prayer come before You;

Incline Your ear to my cry.

For my soul is full of troubles,

And my life draws near to the grave.

I am counted with those who go down to the pit;

I am like a man who has no strength,

Adrift among the dead,

Like the slain who lie in the grave,

Whom You remember no more,

And who are cut off from Your hand.

Psalm 88:1–5 — New Century Version (NCV)

Lord, you are the God who saves me.

I cry out to you day and night.

Receive my prayer,

and listen to my cry.

My life is full of troubles,

and I am nearly dead.

They think I am on the way to my grave.

I am like a man with no strength.

I have been left as dead,

like a body lying in a grave

whom you don’t remember anymore,

cut off from your care.

Psalm 88:1–5 — American Standard Version (ASV)

O Jehovah, the God of my salvation,

I have cried day and night before thee.

Let my prayer enter into thy presence;

Incline thine ear unto my cry.

For my soul is full of troubles,

And my life draweth nigh unto Sheol.

I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit;

I am as a man that hath no help,

Cast off among the dead,

Like the slain that lie in the grave,

Whom thou rememberest no more,

And they are cut off from thy hand.

Psalm 88:1–5 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Jehovah, God of my salvation, I have cried by day and in the night before thee. Let my prayer come before thee; incline thine ear unto my cry. For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draweth nigh to Sheol. I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit; I am as a man that hath no strength: Prostrate among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave; whom thou rememberest no more, and who are cut off from thy hand.

Psalm 88:1–5 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

O Lord God, my savior,

I cry out to you during the day and at night.

Let my prayer come into your presence.

Turn your ear to hear my cries.

My soul is filled with troubles,

and my life comes closer to the grave.

I am numbered with those who go into the pit.

I am like a man without any strength—

abandoned with the dead,

like those who have been killed and lie in graves,

like those whom you no longer remember,

who are cut off from your power.

Psalm 88:1–5 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Lord, God of my salvation,

I cry out before You day and night.

May my prayer reach Your presence;

listen to my cry.

For I have had enough troubles,

and my life is near Sheol.

I am counted among those going down to the Pit.

I am like a man without strength,

abandoned among the dead.

I am like the slain lying in the grave,

whom You no longer remember,

and who are cut off from Your care.

Psalm 88:1–5 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

O Lord, God of my salvation,

when, at night, I cry out in your presence,

let my prayer come before you;

incline your ear to my cry.

For my soul is full of troubles,

and my life draws near to Sheol.

I am counted among those who go down to the Pit;

I am like those who have no help,

like those forsaken among the dead,

like the slain that lie in the grave,

like those whom you remember no more,

for they are cut off from your hand.

Psalm 88:1–5 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

O Yahweh, God of my salvation,

I cry out by day and through the night before you.

Let my prayer come before you;

incline your ear to my cry.

For my soul is full with troubles,

and my life approaches Sheol.

I am reckoned with those descending to the pit.

I am like a man without strength,

set free among the dead,

like the slain lying in the grave,

whom you no longer remember,

even those cut off from your hand.

Psalm 88:1–5 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Lord, you are the God who saves me.

Day and night I cry out to you.

Please hear my prayer.

Pay attention to my cry for help.

I have so many troubles

I’m about to die.

People think my life is over.

I’m like someone who doesn’t have any strength.

People treat me as if I were dead.

I’m like those who have been killed and are now in the grave.

You don’t even remember them anymore.

They are cut off from your care.
