Praise for Rescue from Enemies.
A Song of Ascents, of David.
1 “aHad it not been the Lord who was on our side,”
bLet Israel now say,
2 “Had it not been the Lord who was on our side
When men rose up against us,
3 Then they would have aswallowed us alive,
When their banger was kindled against us;
4 Then the awaters would have engulfed us,
The stream would have 1swept over our soul;
5 Then the araging waters would have 1swept over our soul.”
Who has not given us 1to be atorn by their teeth.
7 Our soul has aescaped bas a bird out of the csnare of the trapper;
The snare is broken and we have escaped.

1 If the Lord had not been on our side—
let Israel say—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side
when people attacked us,
3 they would have swallowed us alive
when their anger flared against us;
4 the flood would have engulfed us,
the torrent would have swept over us,
5 the raging waters
would have swept us away.
6 Praise be to the Lord,
who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
7 We have escaped like a bird
from the fowler’s snare;
the snare has been broken,
and we have escaped.
