Psalm 58:3–6 — The New International Version (NIV)

Even from birth the wicked go astray;

from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies.

Their venom is like the venom of a snake,

like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears,

that will not heed the tune of the charmer,

however skillful the enchanter may be.

Break the teeth in their mouths, O God;

Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions!

Psalm 58:3–6 — English Standard Version (ESV)

The wicked are estranged from the womb;

they go astray from birth, speaking lies.

They have venom like the venom of a serpent,

so that it does not hear the voice of charmers

or of the cunning enchanter.

O God, break the teeth in their mouths;

tear out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!

Psalm 58:3–6 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

The wicked are estranged from the womb:

They go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

Their poison is like the poison of a serpent:

Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers,

Charming never so wisely.

Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth:

Break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Lord.

Psalm 58:3–6 — New Living Translation (NLT)

These wicked people are born sinners;

even from birth they have lied and gone their own way.

They spit venom like deadly snakes;

they are like cobras that refuse to listen,

ignoring the tunes of the snake charmers,

no matter how skillfully they play.

Break off their fangs, O God!

Smash the jaws of these lions, O Lord!

Psalm 58:3–6 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

The wicked are estranged from the womb;

They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.

Their poison is like the poison of a serpent;

They are like the deaf cobra that stops its ear,

Which will not heed the voice of charmers,

Charming ever so skillfully.

Break their teeth in their mouth, O God!

Break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!

Psalm 58:3–6 — New Century Version (NCV)

From birth, evil people turn away from God;

they wander off and tell lies as soon as they are born.

They are like poisonous snakes,

like deaf cobras that stop up their ears

so they cannot hear the music of the snake charmer

no matter how well he plays.

God, break the teeth in their mouths!

Tear out the fangs of those lions, Lord!

Psalm 58:3–6 — American Standard Version (ASV)

The wicked go astray from the womb; they err as soon as they are born, speaking lies. Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder which stoppeth her ear; Which doth not hearken to the voice of enchanters, of one charming ever so wisely.

O God, break their teeth in their mouth; break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Jehovah.

Psalm 58:3–6 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

⸤Even⸥ inside the womb wicked people are strangers ⸤to God⸥.

From their birth liars go astray.

They have poisonous venom like snakes.

They are like a deaf cobra that shuts its ears

so that it cannot hear the voice of a snake charmer

or of anyone trained to cast spells.

O God, knock the teeth out of their mouths.

Break the young lions’ teeth, O Lord

Psalm 58:3–6 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

even if the charmer really plays well.

God, break the teeth in the mouths of those sinners!

Lord, tear out the sharp teeth of those lions!
