Matthew 9:3–7

3 And some of the scribes said 1to themselves, “This fellow ablasphemes.”

4 And Jesus aknowing their thoughts said, Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?

5 Which is easier, to say, ‘aYour sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, and walk’?

6 But so that you may know that athe Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins—then He * said to the bparalytic, Get up, pick up your bed and go home.”

Matthew 9:3–7 — The New International Version (NIV)

At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”

Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, Get up, take your mat and go home.” Then the man got up and went home.
