Luke 11:37–41

Woes upon the Pharisees

37 Now when He had spoken, a Pharisee * asked Him to have lunch with him; and He went in, and reclined at the table.

38 When the Pharisee saw it, he was surprised that He had not first 1aceremonially washed before the 2meal.

39 But athe Lord said to him, Now byou Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the platter; but 1inside of you, you are full of robbery and wickedness.

40 aYou foolish ones, did not He who made the outside make the inside also?

41 But agive that which is within as charity, and 1then all things are bclean for you.

37 When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table. 38 But the Pharisee was surprised when he noticed that Jesus did not first wash before the meal.

39 Then the Lord said to him, Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. 40 You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But now as for what is inside yoube generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.
