4 The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and came to the tomb first;

5 and astooping and looking in, he * saw the blinen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in.

John 20:4–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.
