Deuteronomy 8:16–18

16 “In the wilderness He fed you manna awhich your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might btest you, to do good for you 1in the end.

17 “Otherwise, ayou may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’

18 “But you shall remember the Lord your God, for ait is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Deuteronomy 8:16–18 — The New International Version (NIV)

16 He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

The Lord took your pride away. He put you to the test. He did it so that things would go well with you in the end. 17 You might say to yourselves, “Our power and our strong hands have made us rich.”

18 But remember the Lord your God. He gives you the ability to produce wealth. That shows he stands by the terms of his covenant. He promised it with an oath to your people long ago. And he’s still faithful to his covenant today.
