2 John 1–Revelation 1:20

Walk According to His Commandments

1 aThe elder to the bchosen clady and her children, whom I dlove in truth; and not only I, but also all who eknow the truth,

2 for athe sake of the truth which abides bin us and will be cwith us forever:

3 aGrace, mercy and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

4 aI was very glad to find some of your children walking in truth, just as we have received commandment to do from the Father.

5 Now I ask you, lady, anot as though I were writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had afrom the beginning, that we blove one another.

6 And athis is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, bjust as you have heard cfrom the beginning, that you should walk in it.

7 For amany deceivers have bgone out into the world, those who cdo not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is athe deceiver and the dantichrist.

8 aWatch yourselves, bthat you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.

9 1Anyone who 2goes too far and adoes not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.

10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, ado not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting;

11 for the one who gives him a greeting aparticipates in his evil deeds.

12 aThough I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, so that 1your bjoy may be made full.

13 The children of your achosen sister greet you.

The Third Letter of

JOHN

You Walk in the Truth

1 aThe elder to the beloved bGaius, whom I clove in truth.

2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

3 For I awas very glad when bbrethren came and testified to your truth, that is, how you aare walking in truth.

4 I have no greater joy than 1this, to hear of amy children bwalking in the truth.

5 Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever you accomplish for the abrethren, and 1especially when they are bstrangers;

6 and they have testified to your love before the church. You will do well to asend them on their way in a manner bworthy of God.

7 For they went out for the sake of athe Name, baccepting nothing from the Gentiles.

8 Therefore we ought to 1support such men, so that we may 2be fellow workers 3with the truth.

9 I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to abe first among them, does not accept 1what we say.

10 For this reason, aif I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not breceive the cbrethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and dputs them out of the church.

11 Beloved, ado not imitate what is evil, but what is good. bThe one who does good is of God; cthe one who does evil has not seen God.

12 Demetrius ahas received a good testimony from everyone, and from the truth itself; and we add our testimony, and byou know that our testimony is true.

13 aI had many things to write to you, but I am not willing to write them to you with pen and ink;

14 but I hope to see you shortly, and we will speak face to face.

15 aPeace be to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends bby name.

The Letter of

JUDE

The Warnings of History to the Ungodly

1 1aJude, a bbond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of 2James,

To cthose who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and dkept for Jesus Christ:

2 aMay mercy and peace and love bbe multiplied to you.

3 aBeloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our bcommon salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you ccontend earnestly for dthe faith which was once for all ehanded down to fthe 1saints.

4 For certain persons have acrept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand 1bmarked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn cthe grace of our God into dlicentiousness and edeny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

5 Now I desire to aremind you, though byou know all things once for all, that 1the Lord, cafter saving a people out of the land of Egypt, 2subsequently destroyed those who did not believe.

6 And aangels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has bkept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day,

7 just as aSodom and Gomorrah and the bcities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and cwent after 1strange flesh, are exhibited as an 2dexample in undergoing the epunishment of eternal fire.

8 Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, adefile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile 1angelic majesties.

9 But aMichael bthe archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about cthe body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, “dThe Lord rebuke you!”

10 But athese men revile the things which they do not understand; and bthe things which they know by instinct, alike unreasoning animals, by these things they are 1destroyed.

11 Woe to them! For they have gone athe way of Cain, and for pay 1they have rushed headlong into bthe error of Balaam, and cperished in the rebellion of Korah.

12 These are the men who are 1hidden reefs ain your love feasts when they feast with you bwithout fear, caring for themselves; cclouds without water, dcarried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, 2doubly dead, euprooted;

13 awild waves of the sea, casting up btheir own 1shame like foam; wandering stars, cfor whom the 2black darkness has been reserved forever.

14 It was also about these men that aEnoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “bBehold, the Lord came with 1many thousands of His holy ones,

15 ato execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which bungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

16 These are agrumblers, finding fault, bfollowing after their own lusts; 1they speak carrogantly, flattering people dfor the sake of gaining an advantage.

Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

17 But you, abeloved, bought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by cthe apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,

18 that they were saying to you, “aIn the last time there will be mockers, bfollowing after their own ungodly lusts.”

19 These are the ones who cause divisions, 1aworldly-minded, 2devoid of the Spirit.

20 But you, abeloved, bbuilding yourselves up on your most holy afaith, cpraying in the Holy Spirit,

21 keep yourselves in the love of God, awaiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting;

23 save others, asnatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, bhating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

24 aNow to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to bmake you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with cgreat joy,

25 to the aonly bGod our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, cbe glory, majesty, dominion and authority, dbefore all time and now and 1forever. Amen.

THE REVELATION

to John

Chapter 1

The Revelation of Jesus Christ

1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which aGod gave Him to bshow to His bond-servants, cthe things which must soon take place; and He sent and 1communicated it dby His angel to His bond-servant eJohn,

2 who testified to athe word of God and to bthe testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.

3 aBlessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and 1heed the things which are written in it; bfor the time is near.

Message to the Seven Churches

4 aJohn to bthe seven churches that are in cAsia: dGrace to you and peace, from eHim who is and who was and who 1is to come, and from fthe seven Spirits who are before His throne,

5 and from Jesus Christ, athe faithful witness, the bfirstborn of the dead, and the cruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who dloves us and released us from our sins 1by His blood—

6 and He has made us to be a akingdom, apriests to 1bHis God and Father—cto Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

7 aBehold, He is coming with the clouds, and bevery eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will cmourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.

8 I am athe Alpha and the Omega,” says the bLord God, cwho is and who was and who 1is to come, the Almighty.”

The Patmos Vision

9 aI, John, your bbrother and cfellow partaker in the tribulation and dkingdom and 1eperseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos fbecause of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

10 I was 1ain the Spirit on bthe Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice clike the sound of a trumpet,

11 saying, aWrite in a 1book what you see, and send it to the bseven churches: to cEphesus and to dSmyrna and to ePergamum and to fThyatira and to gSardis and to hPhiladelphia and to iLaodicea.”

12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw aseven golden lampstands;

13 and ain the middle of the lampstands I saw one blike 1a son of man, cclothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and dgirded across His chest with a golden sash.

14 His head and His ahair were white like white wool, like snow; and bHis eyes were like a flame of fire.

15 His afeet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His bvoice was like the sound of many waters.

16 In His right hand He held aseven stars, and out of His mouth came a bsharp two-edged sword; and His cface was like dthe sun 1shining in its strength.

17 When I saw Him, I afell at His feet like a dead man. And He bplaced His right hand on me, saying, cDo not be afraid; dI am the first and the last,

18 and the aliving One; and I 1bwas dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I
