Jeremiah 15:11–14

11 The Lord said,

“Surely I will deliver you for a good purpose;

surely I will make your enemies plead with you

in times of disaster and times of distress.

12 “Can a man break iron—

iron from the north—or bronze?

13 “Your wealth and your treasures

I will give as plunder, without charge,

because of all your sins

throughout your country.

14 I will enslave you to your enemies

in a land you do not know,

for my anger will kindle a fire

that will burn against you.”

11 The Lord said, “Have I not set you free for their good? Have I not pleaded for you before the enemy in the time of trouble and in the time of distress? 12 Can one break iron, iron from the north, and bronze?

13 “Your wealth and your treasures I will give as spoil, without price, for all your sins, throughout all your territory. 14 I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled that shall burn forever.”

11 The Lord said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction. 12 Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel? 13 Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders. 14 And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.

11 The Lord replied,

“I will take care of you, Jeremiah.

Your enemies will ask you to plead on their behalf

in times of trouble and distress.

12 Can a man break a bar of iron from the north,

or a bar of bronze?

13 At no cost to them,

I will hand over your wealth and treasures

as plunder to your enemies,

for sin runs rampant in your land.

14 I will tell your enemies to take you

as captives to a foreign land.

For my anger blazes like a fire

that will burn forever.”

11 The Lord said:

“Surely it will be well with your remnant;

Surely I will cause the enemy to intercede with you

In the time of adversity and in the time of affliction.

12 Can anyone break iron,

The northern iron and the bronze?

13 Your wealth and your treasures

I will give as plunder without price,

Because of all your sins,

Throughout your territories.

14 And I will make you cross over with your enemies

Into a land which you do not know;

For a fire is kindled in My anger,

Which shall burn upon you.”

11 The Lord said,

“I have saved you for a good reason.

I have made your enemies beg you

in times of disaster and trouble.

12 No one can smash a piece of iron or bronze

that comes from the north.

13 Your wealth and treasures

I will give to others free of charge,

because the people of Judah have sinned

throughout the country.

14 I will make you slaves to your enemies

in a land you have never known.

My anger is like a hot fire,

and it will burn against you.”

11 Jehovah said, Verily I will strengthen thee for good; verily I will cause the enemy to make supplication unto thee in the time of evil and in the time of affliction. 12 Can one break iron, even iron from the north, and brass? 13 Thy substance and thy treasures will I give for a spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders. 14 And I will make them to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not; for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.

11 Jehovah said, Verily I will set thee free for thy good; verily I will cause the enemy to meet thee kindly in the time of evil and in the time of affliction. 12 Will iron break? iron from the north? and bronze? 13 Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all thy sins, and in all thy borders; 14 and I will make them to pass with thine enemies into a land that thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger; it shall burn upon you.

11 The Lord said, 

“I will certainly rescue you for a good reason. 

I will certainly make your enemies plead with you 

in times of disaster and in times of distress. 

12 (No one can break iron, iron from the north, or bronze.) 

13 I will give away your wealth and treasures as loot 

as the price for all the sins that you have committed 

throughout your territory. 

14 I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you haven’t heard of, 

because my anger has started a fire. 

It will burn you.” 

11 The Lord said:

I will certainly set you free and care for you.

I will certainly intercede for you

in a time of trouble,

in your time of distress, with the enemy.

12 Can anyone smash iron,

iron from the north, or bronze?

13 I will give up your wealth

and your treasures as plunder,

without cost, for all your sins

in all your borders.

14 Then I will make you serve your enemies

in a land you do not know,

for My anger will kindle a fire

that will burn against you.

11 The Lord said: Surely I have intervened in your life for good; surely I have brought enemies upon you in a time of trouble and in a time of distress. 12 Can one break iron, iron from the north, and bronze?

13 Your wealth and your treasures I will give as plunder, without price, for all your sins, throughout all your territory. 14 I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled that shall burn against you.

11 Yahweh said,

“Surely I will set you free to be good for you,

surely I will cause the enemy to intercede with you

in a time of trouble,

and in a time of distress.

12 Can anyone break iron,

iron from the north, or bronze?

13 I will give your wealth and your treasures

as plunder without price,

even because of all your sins,

and throughout all your territories.

14 And I will make you serve your enemies

in a land that you do not know,

for a fire will kindle in my anger.

Upon you it will be kindled.”

11 The Lord said,

“Jeremiah, I will keep you safe for a good purpose.

I will make your enemies ask you to pray for them.

They will make their appeal to you

when they are in great trouble.

12 “People of Judah, the armies of Babylonia

will come from the north.

They are as strong as iron and bronze.

Can anyone break their power?

13 I will give away your wealth and your treasures.

Your enemies will carry off everything.

And they will not pay anything for it.

That will happen because you have sinned so much.

You have done it all through your country.

14 I will make you slaves to your enemies.

You will serve them in a land

you have not had anything to do with before.

My anger will start a fire

that will burn you up.”

11 The Lord said, “Surely I will set you free for purposes of good;

Surely I will cause the enemy to make supplication to you

In a time of disaster and a time of distress.

12 “Can anyone smash iron,

Iron from the north, or bronze?

13 “Your wealth and your treasures

I will give for booty without cost,

Even for all your sins

And within all your borders.

14 “Then I will cause your enemies to bring it

Into a land you do not know;

For a fire has been kindled in My anger,

It will burn upon you.”
