“I will stretch out my hand against Judah

and against all who live in Jerusalem.

I will destroy every remnant of Baal worship in this place,

the very names of the idolatrous priests—

those who bow down on the roofs

to worship the starry host,

those who bow down and swear by the Lord

and who also swear by Molek,

Zephaniah 1:4–5 — English Standard Version (ESV)

“I will stretch out my hand against Judah

and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

and I will cut off from this place the remnant of Baal

and the name of the idolatrous priests along with the priests,

those who bow down on the roofs

to the host of the heavens,

those who bow down and swear to the Lord

and yet swear by Milcom,

Zephaniah 1:4–5 — New Living Translation (NLT)

“I will crush Judah and Jerusalem with my fist

and destroy every last trace of their Baal worship.

I will put an end to all the idolatrous priests,

so that even the memory of them will disappear.

For they go up to their roofs

and bow down to the sun, moon, and stars.

They claim to follow the Lord,

but then they worship Molech, too.

Zephaniah 1:4–5 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

“I will stretch out My hand against Judah,

And against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

I will cut off every trace of Baal from this place,

The names of the idolatrous priests with the pagan priests—

Those who worship the host of heaven on the housetops;

Those who worship and swear oaths by the Lord,

But who also swear by Milcom;

Zephaniah 1:4–5 — New Century Version (NCV)

“I will punish Judah

and all the people living in Jerusalem.

I will remove from this place

all signs of Baal, the false priests, and the other priests.

I will destroy those who worship

the stars from the roofs,

and those who worship and make promises

by both the Lord and the god Molech,

Zephaniah 1:4–5 — American Standard Version (ASV)

And I will stretch out my hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarim with the priests; and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship, that swear to Jehovah and swear by Malcam;

And I will stretch forth my hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, the name of the Chemarim with the priests; and them that bow down to the host of the heavens upon the housetops; and them that bow down to Jehovah, that swear by him, and swear by Malcham;

Zephaniah 1:4–5 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

“I will use my power against Judah

and against those who live in Jerusalem.

I will remove the faithful few of Baal from this place

while also swearing loyalty to the god Milcom.

I will stretch out My hand against Judah

and against all the residents of Jerusalem.

I will cut off every vestige of Baal

to the heavenly host;

those who bow and pledge loyalty to the Lord

but also pledge loyalty to Milcom;

Zephaniah 1:4–5 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

I will stretch out my hand against Judah,

and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

“I will reach out my powerful hand against Judah.

I will punish all those who live in Jerusalem.

I will cut off from that place

what is left of Baal worship.

The officials and priests who serve other gods

will be removed.

I will wipe out those who bow down on their roofs
