Psalm 6

Psalm 6

To the *chief Musician on *Neginoth ||*upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.

O aLord, rebuke me not in thine anger,

Neither bchasten me in thy hot displeasure.

cHave mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak:

O Lord, dheal me; for my bones eare vexed.

My soul is also sore evexed:

But thou, O Lord, fhow long?

ffReturn, O Lord, deliver my soul:

Oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.

gFor in death there is no remembrance of thee:

In the grave who shall give thee thanks?

ggI am weary with hmy groaning;

||All the night make I my bed to swim;

I water my couch with my tears.

iMine eye is consumed because of grief;

It waxeth old because of all mine enemies.

jDepart from me, all kye workers of iniquity;

For lthe Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.

The Lord hath heard my msupplication;

The Lord will receive my mprayer.

10  Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore evexed:

Let them nreturn and be ashamed suddenly.

Psalm 16–19

Psalm 16

||Michtam of David.

Preserve me, O God: afor in thee do I put my trust.

O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord:

bMy goodness extendeth not to thee;

But to the saints that are in the earth,

And to the excellent, cin whom is all my delight.

Their sorrows shall be multiplied that ||hasten after ccanother god:

Their drink offerings of blood will I not offer,

dNor etake up their names into my lips.

The Lord is fthe portion of mine ginheritance and of my hcup:

Thou maintainest my ilot.

The ilines are fallen unto me in jpleasant places;

Yea, I have a goodly heritage.

I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel:

My kreins also instruct me lin the night seasons.

mI have nset the Lord always before me:

Because ohe is at my right hand, pI shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and qmy glory rejoiceth:

My flesh also shall rest in hope.

10  For thou wilt not leave my soul in rhell;

sNeither wilt thou suffer thine tHoly One to see ucorruption.

11  Thou wilt shew me wthe path of life:

In thy presence is xfulness of joy;

At thy right hand there are ypleasures for evermore.

Psalm 17

A *Prayer of David.

Hear the right, O Lord, aattend unto my cry,

Give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

Let my sentence come forth aafrom thy presence;

Let thine eyes behold bthe things that are equal.

Thou hast cproved mine heart; thou hast dvisited me ein the night;

Thou hast ftried me, and shalt find nothing;

I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips

I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

gHold up my goings in thy hpaths,

That my footsteps slip not.

iI have called upon thee, jfor thou wilt hear me, O God:

iIncline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

kShew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou ||that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee

lFrom those that rise up against them.

Keep me mas the apple of the eye,

Hide me nunder the shadow of thy wings,

From the wicked that oppress me,

From my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

10  They are inclosed in otheir own fat:

With their mouth they pspeak proudly.

11  They have now compassed us in ppour steps:

qThey have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

12  Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey,

And as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

13  Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, qqcast him down:

Deliver my soul from the wicked, r||which is thy sword:

14  ||From men which are thy hand, O Lord,

From men of sthe world, twhich have their portion in this life,

And whose belly thou fillest with thy uhid treasure:

||They are full of children,

And leave xthe rest of their substance to their babes.

15  As for me, yI will behold thy face in righteousness:

I shall be zsatisfied, awhen I awake, with thy blikeness.

Psalm 18

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, athe servant of the Lord, who spake unto the Lord the words of bthis song in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,

bbI will love thee, O Lord, my strength.

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

My God, my strength, cin whom I will trust;

My buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised:

So shall I be saved from mine enemies.

The ||sorrows of death compassed me,

And the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

The ||sorrows of hell compassed me about:

The snares of death dprevented me.

ddIn my distress I called upon the Lord,

And cried unto my God:

He heard my voice out of his temple,

And my cry came before him, even into his ears.

Then the earth shook and trembled;

The foundations also eof the hills moved

And were shaken, because he was wroth.

There went up a smoke out of his nostrils,

And ffire out of his mouth devoured:

Coals were kindled by it.

He bowed the heavens also, and came down:

And darkness was under his feet.

10  And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly:

Yea, he did gfly upon the wings of the wind.

11  He made darkness his secret place;

His pavilion round about him

Were hdark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

12  At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed,

iHail stones and coals of fire.

13  The Lord also thundered in the heavens,

And the Highest gave his voice;

iHail stones and coals of fire.

14  Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them;

And he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

15  Then jthe channels of waters were seen,

And the foundations of the world were discovered

At thy rebuke, O Lord,

At the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

16  He sent from above, he took me,

He drew me out of ||many waters.

17  He delivered me from my strong enemy,

And from them which hated me: jjfor they were too strong for me.

18  They dprevented me in the day of my calamity:

But the Lord was my stay.

19  He brought me forth also into a large place;

He delivered me, because he delighted in me.

20  The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness;

According to the
