Numbers 14:17–18
17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying, 18 The Lord is alongsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, bvisiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
Numbers 14:17–18 — The New International Version (NIV)
17 “Now may the Lord’s strength be displayed, just as you have declared: 18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.’
Numbers 14:17–18 — English Standard Version (ESV)
17 And now, please let the power of the Lord be great as you have promised, saying, 18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’
Numbers 14:17–18 — New Living Translation (NLT)
17 “Please, Lord, prove that your power is as great as you have claimed. For you said, 18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and filled with unfailing love, forgiving every kind of sin and rebellion. But he does not excuse the guilty. He lays the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations.’
Numbers 14:17–18 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
17 And now, I pray, let the power of my Lord be great, just as You have spoken, saying, 18 ‘The Lord is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.’
Numbers 14:17–18 — New Century Version (NCV)
17 “So show your strength now, Lord. Do what you said: 18 ‘The Lord doesn’t become angry quickly, but he has great love. He forgives sin and law breaking. But the Lord never forgets to punish guilty people. When parents sin, he will also punish their children, their grandchildren, their great-grandchildren, and their great-great-grandchildren.’
Numbers 14:17–18 — American Standard Version (ASV)
17 And now, I pray thee, let the power of the Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying, 18 Jehovah is slow to anger, and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation.
Numbers 14:17–18 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of the Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying, 18 Jehovah is slow to anger, and abundant in goodness, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and fourth generation.
Numbers 14:17–18 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
17 “Lord, let your power be as great as when you said, 18 ‘The Lord … patient, forever loving.… He forgives wrongdoing and disobedience.… He never lets the guilty go unpunished, punishing children … for their parents’ sins to the third and fourth generation.…’
Numbers 14:17–18 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
17 “So now, may my Lord’s power be magnified just as You have spoken: 18 The Lord is slow to anger and rich in faithful love, forgiving wrongdoing and rebellion. But He will not leave the guilty unpunished, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ wrongdoing on the children to the third and fourth generation.
Numbers 14:17–18 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
17 And now, therefore, let the power of the Lord be great in the way that you promised when you spoke, saying,
18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger,
and abounding in steadfast love,
forgiving iniquity and transgression,
but by no means clearing the guilty,
visiting the iniquity of the parents
upon the children
to the third and the fourth generation.’
Numbers 14:17–18 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
17 But now, please, let the power of my Lord be great, just as you spoke,
18 ‘Yahweh is slow to anger
and great of loyal love,
forgiving sin and rebellion;
but surely he leaves nothing unpunished,
visiting the sin of the fathers on the sons
to the third and fourth generations.’
Numbers 14:17–18 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)
17 “Now, Lord, show your strength. You have said, 18 ‘I am the Lord. I am slow to get angry. I am full of love. I forgive those who sin. I forgive those who refuse to obey. But I do not let guilty people go without punishing them. I punish the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for the sin of their parents.’
Numbers 14:17–18 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)
17 “But now, I pray, let the power of the Lord be great, just as You have declared,
18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generations.’
