Matthew 25:3–8

They that were efoolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the dwise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom ftarried, they all gslumbered and hslept. And at midnight there was ia cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and ktrimmed their lamps. And the efoolish said unto the dwise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are ||gone out.

Matthew 25:3–8 — The New International Version (NIV)

The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.
