Mark 10:4–5

And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

Mark 10:4–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.”

It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied.
