Judges 1:16–18
16 And the children of the mKenite, Moses’ father in law, went up out nof the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of oArad; pand they went and dwelt among the people. 17 qAnd Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited rZephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called sHormah. 18 Also Judah took tGaza with the coast thereof, and uAskelon with the coast thereof, and wEkron with the coast thereof.

16 The descendants of Moses’ father-in-law, the Kenite, went up from the City of Palms with the people of Judah to live among the inhabitants of the Desert of Judah in the Negev near Arad.
17 Then the men of Judah went with the Simeonites their fellow Israelites and attacked the Canaanites living in Zephath, and they totally destroyed the city. Therefore it was called Hormah. 18 Judah also took Gaza, Ashkelon and Ekron—each city with its territory.

17 The men of Judah went with their fellow Israelites, the men of Simeon. They attacked the people of Canaan who were living in Zephath. They set the city apart to the Lord in a special way to be destroyed. That’s why the city was called Hormah.
18 The men of Judah took Gaza, Ashkelon and Ekron. They also took the territory that was around each of those cities.
