John 19:7–8

7 The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”

8 When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid,

7 The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has made himself the Son of God.” 8 When Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid.

7 The Jewish leaders replied, “By our law he ought to die because he called himself the Son of God.”

8 When Pilate heard this, he was more frightened than ever.

7 The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God.”

8 Therefore, when Pilate heard that saying, he was the more afraid,

7 The leaders answered, “We have a law that says he should die, because he said he is the Son of God.”

8 When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid.

7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. 8 When Pilate therefore heard this saying, he was the more afraid;

7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and according to our law he ought to die, because he made himself Son of God. 8 When Pilate therefore heard this word, he was the rather afraid,

7 The Jews answered Pilate, “We have a law, and by that law he must die because he claimed to be the Son of God.” 

8 When Pilate heard them say that, he became more afraid than ever.

7 “We have a law,” the Jews replied to him, “and according to that law He must die, because He made Himself the Son of God.”

8 When Pilate heard this statement, he was more afraid than ever.

7 The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has claimed to be the Son of God.”

8 Now when Pilate heard this, he was more afraid than ever.

7 The Jews replied to him, “We have a law, and according to the law he ought to die, because he made himself out to be the Son of God!”

8 So when Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid,

7 The Jews replied, “We have a law. That law says he must die. He claimed to be the Son of God.”

8 When Pilate heard that, he was even more afraid.

7 The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made Himself out to be the Son of God.”

8 Therefore when Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid;
