Jeremiah 17:15–16

15 They keep saying to me,

“Where is the word of the Lord?

Let it now be fulfilled!”

16 I have not run away from being your shepherd;

you know I have not desired the day of despair.

What passes my lips is open before you.

15 Behold, they say to me,

“Where is the word of the Lord?

Let it come!”

16 I have not run away from being your shepherd,

nor have I desired the day of sickness.

You know what came out of my lips;

it was before your face.

15 People scoff at me and say,

“What is this ‘message from the Lord’ you talk about?

Why don’t your predictions come true?”

16 Lord, I have not abandoned my job

as a shepherd for your people.

I have not urged you to send disaster.

You have heard everything I’ve said.

15 Indeed they say to me,

“Where is the word of the Lord?

Let it come now!”

16 As for me, I have not hurried away from being a shepherd who follows You,

Nor have I desired the woeful day;

You know what came out of my lips;

It was right there before You.

15 The people of Judah keep asking me,

“Where is the word from the Lord?

Let’s see that message come true!”

16 Lord, I didn’t run away from being the shepherd you wanted.

I didn’t want the terrible day to come.

You know everything I have said;

you see all that is happening.

15 Behold, they say unto me, Where is the word of Jehovah? let it come now. 16 As for me, I have not hastened from being a shepherd after thee; neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was before thy face.

15 Behold, these say unto me, Where is the word of Jehovah? let it then come! 16 But as for me, I have not hastened from being a shepherd in following thee, neither have I desired the fatal day, thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was before thy face.

15 People keep asking me, 

“Where is the Lord’s word? 

Let it come.” 

16 I have not run away from being your shepherd, 

and I have not longed for the day of destruction. 

You know what came out of my mouth. 

15 Hear how they keep challenging me,

“Where is the word of the Lord?

Let it come!”

16 But I have not run away from being Your shepherd,

and I have not longed for the fatal day.

You know my words were spoken in Your presence.

15 See how they say to me,

“Where is the word of the Lord?

Let it come!”

16 But I have not run away from being a shepherd in your service,

nor have I desired the fatal day.

You know what came from my lips;

it was before your face.

15 Look, they are saying to me,

“Where is the word of Yahweh?

Please let it come.”

16 But I, I have not run away from being a shepherd who follows you,

and I have not desired the disastrous day.

You, you know the pronouncement of my lips,

it was before your face.

15 They keep saying to me,

“What has happened to the message the Lord gave you?

Let it come true right now!”

16 I haven’t run away from being the shepherd of your people.

You know I haven’t wanted the day of Jerusalem’s fall to come.

You are aware of every word that comes from my lips.

15 Look, they keep saying to me,

“Where is the word of the Lord?

Let it come now!”

16 But as for me, I have not hurried away from being a shepherd after You,

Nor have I longed for the woeful day;

You Yourself know that the utterance of my lips

Was in Your presence.
