5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?

5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”?

5 Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him.

5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?

5 Do you think the Scripture means nothing that says, “The Spirit that God made to live in us wants us for himself alone”?

5 Or think ye that the scripture speaketh in vain? Doth the spirit which he made to dwell in us long unto envying?

5 Think ye that the scripture speaks in vain? Does the Spirit which has taken his abode in us desire enviously?

5 Do you think this passage means nothing? It says, “The Spirit that lives in us wants us to be his own.” 

5 Or do you think it’s without reason the Scripture says that the Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously?

5 Or do you suppose that it is for nothing that the scripture says, “God yearns jealously for the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”?

5 Or do you think that in vain the scripture says, “The spirit which he caused to dwell in us desires jealously”?

5 Don’t you know what Scripture says? The spirit that God caused to live in us wants us to belong only to God. Don’t you think Scripture has a reason for saying that?

5 Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us”?
