out of the dust your speech will whisper.

and from the dust your speech shall whisper.

I will be your enemy,

surrounding Jerusalem and attacking its walls.

Your voice will whisper from the ground

like a ghost conjured up from the grave.

Your speech shall be low, out of the dust;

Your voice shall be like a medium’s, out of the ground;

And your speech shall whisper out of the dust.

Isaiah 29:3–4 — New Century Version (NCV)

I will put armies all around you, Jerusalem;

I will surround you with towers

your words will come like a whisper from the dirt.

Isaiah 29:3–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Isaiah 29:3–4 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

I will set up war camps all around you.

I will blockade you with towers.

I will put up mounds of dirt around you.

Your words will be muffled by the dust.

Your voice will come out of the ground like that of a ghost.

Your words will be whispered from the dust.

Your voice will sound like the voice of a ghost

coming from under the ground.

Your words will sound like a whisper out of the dust.”
