“Rebuke your mother, rebuke her,

for she is not my wife,

and I am not her husband.

Let her remove the adulterous look from her face

and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.

Otherwise I will strip her naked

and make her as bare as on the day she was born;

I will make her like a desert,

turn her into a parched land,

and slay her with thirst.

I will not show my love to her children,

because they are the children of adultery.

for she is not my wife,

and I am not her husband—

that she put away her whoring from her face,

and her adultery from between her breasts;

lest I strip her naked

and make her as in the day she was born,

and make her like a wilderness,

and make her like a parched land,

and kill her with thirst.

Upon her children also I will have no mercy,

because they are children of whoredom.

for she is no longer my wife,

and I am no longer her husband.

Tell her to remove the prostitute’s makeup from her face

and the clothing that exposes her breasts.

Otherwise, I will strip her as naked

as she was on the day she was born.

I will leave her to die of thirst,

as in a dry and barren wilderness.

And I will not love her children,

for they were conceived in prostitution.

Hosea 2:2–4 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

“Bring charges against your mother, bring charges;

For she is not My wife, nor am I her Husband!

Let her put away her harlotries from her sight,

And her adulteries from between her breasts;

Lest I strip her naked

And expose her, as in the day she was born,

And make her like a wilderness,

And set her like a dry land,

And slay her with thirst.

“I will not have mercy on her children,

For they are the children of harlotry.

Hosea 2:2–4 — New Century Version (NCV)

“Plead with your mother.

Accuse her, because she is no longer my wife,

and I am no longer her husband.

Tell her to stop acting like a prostitute,

to stop behaving like an unfaithful wife.

If she refuses, I will strip her naked

and leave her bare like the day she was born.

I will make her dry like a desert,

like a land without water,

and I will kill her with thirst.

I will not take pity on her children,

because they are the children of a prostitute.

Hosea 2:2–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Contend with your mother, contend; for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband; and let her put away her whoredoms from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts; lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst. Yea, upon her children will I have no mercy; for they are children of whoredom;

Tell her to remove the lovers from between her breasts.

If she refuses, I will strip her.

I will leave her as naked as the day she was born.

I will turn her into a dry and barren land,

and she will die of thirst.

I won’t love her children,

because they are children of a prostitute.

For she is not My wife and I am not her husband.

Let her remove the promiscuous look from her face

Otherwise, I will strip her naked

I will make her like a desert

and like a parched land,

and I will let her die of thirst.

I will have no compassion on her children

because they are the children of promiscuity.

Hosea 2:2–4 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

because she is not my wife,

and I am not her husband.

Let her put away her whoring from before her,

and her adultery from between her breasts.

Lest I strip her naked

and expose her like the day when she was born;

I will make her like the desert

and turn her into parched land;

I will kill her with thirst.

And I will not have pity on her children,

because they are children of whoredom.

Talk to her.

She isn’t acting like a wife to me anymore.

She no longer treats me as her husband.

Tell her to stop looking and acting like a prostitute.

Tell her not to let her lovers

lie on her breasts anymore.

If she doesn’t stop it, I will strip her naked.

I’ll make her as bare as she was on the day she was born.

I’ll make her like a desert.

She will become like dry land.

And I’ll let her die of thirst.”

I won’t show my love to Gomer’s children.

They are the children of other men.

And her adultery from between her breasts,

I will also make her like a wilderness,

Make her like desert land

And slay her with thirst.

“Also, I will have no compassion on her children,

Because they are children of harlotry.
