Daniel 9:1–6

*aIn the first year of bDarius the son of cAhasuerus, of the seed of dthe Medes, ||which was made king over the realm of ethe Chaldeans; 2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to fJeremiah the prophet, gthat he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. 3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek hby prayer and isupplications, hkwith fasting, and lsackcloth, and lashes: 4 And hI mprayed unto the Lord my God, and mnmade my confession, and said,

oO Lord, opthe great and dreadful God, oqkeeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; 5 rWe have sinned, and rhave committed iniquity, and rhave done wickedly, and rrhave rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: 6 sNeither have we hearkened unto tthy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name uzto our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
