1 Timothy 3:10–12

10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

11 In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.

12 A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well.

10 And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. 11 Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well.

10 Before they are appointed as deacons, let them be closely examined. If they pass the test, then let them serve as deacons.

11 In the same way, their wives must be respected and must not slander others. They must exercise self-control and be faithful in everything they do.

12 A deacon must be faithful to his wife, and he must manage his children and household well.

10 But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. 11 Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

10 Test them first. Then let them serve as deacons if you find nothing wrong in them. 11 In the same way, women must be respected by others. They must not speak evil of others. They must be self-controlled and trustworthy in everything. 12 Deacons must have only one wife and be good leaders of their children and their own families.

10 And let these also first be proved; then let them serve as deacons, if they be blameless. 11 Women in like manner must be grave, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

10 And let these be first proved, then let them minister, being without charge against them. 11 The women in like manner grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 12 Let the ministers be husbands of one wife, conducting their children and their own houses well:

10 First, a person must be evaluated. Then, if he has a good reputation, he may become a deacon. 

11 Their wives must also be of good character. They must not be gossips, but they must control their tempers and be trustworthy in every way. 

12 A deacon must have only one wife. Deacons must manage their children and their families well.
