Romans 10–16
10 Brethren, amy heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record bthat they have a zeal of God, but cnot according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of dGod’s righteousness, and going about to establish dtheir own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For eChrist is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. 5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That fthe man which doeth those things shall live by them. 6 But dthe righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, gSay not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, hto bring Christ down from above:) 7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) 8 But what saith it? iThe word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt kconfess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt lbelieve in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For llthe scripture saith, mWhosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For nthere is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for othe same Lord over all is prich unto all that call upon him. 13 For qwhosoever shall rcall upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear swithout a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except tthey be sent? as it is written, uHow beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But xthey have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, ywho hath believed †our ||zreport? 17 So then faith cometh by zhearing, and zhearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, Have they not heard? aYes verily, btheir sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. 19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, cI will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a dfoolish nation I will anger you. 20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, eI was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me. 21 But to Israel he saith, fAll day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
11 I say then, aHath God cast away his people? bGod forbid. For cdI also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of dthe tribe of Benjamin. 2 eGod hath not cast away his people fwhich he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith †of Elias? how he gmaketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, 3 Lord, hthey have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4 But what saith ithe answer of God unto him? kI have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5 Even so then at this present time also there is la remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And mif by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. 7 What then? nIsrael hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were ||blinded 8 (According as it is written, oGod hath given them the spirit of ||slumber, peyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. 9 And David saith, qLet their table be made a snare, and a trap, and qqa stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: 10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? bGod forbid: but rather rthrough their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, sfor to provoke them to jealousy. 12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the ||diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? 13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as tI am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: 14 If by any means I may sprovoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and umight uwsave some of them. 15 For if the casting away of them be the xreconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead? 16 For if ythe firstfruit be holy, zthe lump is also holy: and if athe root be holy, so are the branches. 17 And if bsome of the branches be broken off, and thou, cbeing a wild olive tree, wert graffed in ||among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of dthe olive tree; 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou estandest by faith. eBe not highminded, but ffear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, gif thou continue in his goodness: otherwise hthou also shalt be cut off. 23 And ithey also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. 24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
25 For iiI would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, jlest ye should be wise in your own conceits; kthat ||blindness lin part is happened to Israel, muntil the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And iso all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, nThere shall come oout of Sion the Deliverer, and pshall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant unto them, qwhen I shall take away their sins. 28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are rbeloved for the fathers’ sakes. 29 For the gifts and calling sof God are twithout repentance. 30 For as ye uin times past have not ||believed God, wyet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 31 Even so have these also now not ||believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. 32 For xGod hath ||concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
33 O ythe depth of the riches both of ythe wisdom and zknowledge of God! ahow unsearchable are his judgments, and bhis ways cpast finding out! 34 dFor who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counseller? 35 Or ewho hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? 36 For fof him, and gthrough him, and gto him, are all things: hto †whom be glory for ever. Amen.
12 I abeseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye bpresent your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, cacceptable unto God, which is your dreasonable eservice. 2 And fbe not conformed gto this world: but hbe ye transformed by ithe renewing jof your mind, that ye may kprove what is that good, and cacceptable, and perfect, lwill of God. 3 For I say, mthrough the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, nnot to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think †soberly, oaccording as God hath dealt to every man pthe measure of faith. 4 qFor as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, rbeing many, sare one body in Christ, and every one tmembers one of another. 6 uHaving then gifts differing oaccording to mthe grace that is given to us, whether wxprophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or yministry, let us wait on our ministering: or zhe that teacheth, on wateaching; 8 Or bhe that exhorteth, on cexhortation: dhe that ||giveth, let him do it ||with simplicity; ehe that ruleth, with fdiligence; he that sheweth mercy, gwith cheerfulness.
9 Let hlove be hiwithout dissimulation. jAbhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kkindly affectioned one to another l||with brotherly love; min honour preferring one another; 11 Not nslothful in fbusiness; ofervent in spirit; pserving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; qpatient in tribulation; rcontinuing instant in prayer; 13 sDistributing to the necessity of saints; tgiven to hospitality. 14 uBless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15 vRejoice with them that do rejoice, and wweep with them that weep. 16 Be xof the same mind one toward another. yMind not high things, but ||condescend to men of low estate. zBe not wise in your own conceits. 17 aRecompense to no man evil for evil. bProvide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 bbIf it be possible, as much as lieth in you, clive peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, davenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto ewrath: for it is written, fVengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore ugif thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
13 Let every asoul bbe subject unto the higher powers. For cthere is no power but of God: the powers that be are ||dordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth bthe power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves dddamnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to egood works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and fthou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is gthe minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is gthe minister of God, a revenger to execute
