Psalm 2:1–12

Coronation of the Son

Why p do the nations rebel q r

and the peoples plot in vain? s

The kings of the earth take their stand, t

and the rulers conspire together

against the Lord and His Anointed One: u v

“Let us tear off their chains

and free ourselves from their restraints.” w x

The One enthroned y in heaven laughs;

the Lord ridicules them. z

Then He speaks to them in His anger

and terrifies them in His wrath: a

“I have consecrated My King b

on * Zion, My holy mountain.” c

I will declare the Lord’s decree:

He said to Me, “You are My Son; d

today I have become Your e Father. f

Ask of Me,

and I will make the nations Your g inheritance

and the ends of the earth Your h possession. i

You will break j them with a rod of iron;

You k will shatter them like pottery.” l m

10 So now, kings, be wise;

receive instruction, you judges of the earth.

11 Serve the Lord with reverential awe

and rejoice with trembling. n

12 Pay homage to o the Son or He p will be angry

and you will perish in your rebellion, q r

for His s anger may ignite at any moment. t

All those who take refuge in Him u are happy. v
