Psalm 94:1–11 — The New International Version (NIV)

The Lord is a God who avenges.

O God who avenges, shine forth.

Rise up, Judge of the earth;

pay back to the proud what they deserve.

How long, Lord, will the wicked,

how long will the wicked be jubilant?

They pour out arrogant words;

all the evildoers are full of boasting.

They crush your people, Lord;

they oppress your inheritance.

They slay the widow and the foreigner;

they murder the fatherless.

They say, “The Lord does not see;

the God of Jacob takes no notice.”

Take notice, you senseless ones among the people;

you fools, when will you become wise?

Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?

Does he who formed the eye not see?

10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish?

Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?

11 The Lord knows all human plans;

he knows that they are futile.

Psalm 94:1–11 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth;

O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.

Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth:

Render a reward to the proud.

Lord, How long shall the wicked,

How long shall the wicked triumph?

How long shall they utter and speak hard things?

And all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

They break in pieces thy people, O Lord,

And afflict thine heritage.

They slay the widow and the stranger,

And murder the fatherless.

Yet they say, The Lord shall not see,

Neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

Understand, ye brutish among the people:

And ye fools, when will ye be wise?

He that planted the ear, shall he not hear?

He that formed the eye, shall he not see?

10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct?

He that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?

11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man,

That they are vanity.

Psalm 94:1–11 — New Living Translation (NLT)

O Lord, the God of vengeance,

O God of vengeance, let your glorious justice shine forth!

Arise, O Judge of the earth.

Give the proud what they deserve.

How long, O Lord?

How long will the wicked be allowed to gloat?

How long will they speak with arrogance?

How long will these evil people boast?

They crush your people, Lord,

hurting those you claim as your own.

They kill widows and foreigners

and murder orphans.

“The Lord isn’t looking,” they say,

“and besides, the God of Israel doesn’t care.”

Think again, you fools!

When will you finally catch on?

Is he deaf—the one who made your ears?

Is he blind—the one who formed your eyes?

10 He punishes the nations—won’t he also punish you?

He knows everything—doesn’t he also know what you are doing?

11 The Lord knows people’s thoughts;

he knows they are worthless!

Psalm 94:1–11 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongs—

O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!

Rise up, O Judge of the earth;

Render punishment to the proud.

Lord, how long will the wicked,

How long will the wicked triumph?

They utter speech, and speak insolent things;

All the workers of iniquity boast in themselves.

They break in pieces Your people, O Lord,

And afflict Your heritage.

They slay the widow and the stranger,

And murder the fatherless.

Yet they say, “The Lord does not see,

Nor does the God of Jacob understand.”

Understand, you senseless among the people;

And you fools, when will you be wise?

He who planted the ear, shall He not hear?

He who formed the eye, shall He not see?

10 He who instructs the nations, shall He not correct,

He who teaches man knowledge?

11 The Lord knows the thoughts of man,

That they are futile.

Psalm 94:1–11 — New Century Version (NCV)

The Lord is a God who punishes.

God, show your greatness and punish!

Rise up, Judge of the earth,

and give the proud what they deserve.

How long will the wicked be happy?

How long, Lord?

They are full of proud words;

those who do evil brag about what they have done.

Lord, they crush your people

and make your children suffer.

They kill widows and foreigners

and murder orphans.

They say, “The Lord doesn’t see;

the God of Jacob doesn’t notice.”

You stupid ones among the people, pay attention.

You fools, when will you understand?

Can’t the creator of ears hear?

Can’t the maker of eyes see?

10 Won’t the one who corrects nations punish you?

Doesn’t the teacher of people know everything?

11 The Lord knows what people think.

He knows their thoughts are just a puff of wind.

Psalm 94:1–11 — American Standard Version (ASV)

O Jehovah, thou God to whom vengeance belongeth,

Thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, shine forth.

Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth:

Render to the proud their desert.

Jehovah, how long shall the wicked,

How long shall the wicked triumph?

They prate, they speak arrogantly:

All the workers of iniquity boast themselves.

They break in pieces thy people, O Jehovah,

And afflict thy heritage.

They slay the widow and the sojourner,

And murder the fatherless.

And they say, Jehovah will not see,

Neither will the God of Jacob consider.

Consider, ye brutish among the people;

And ye fools, when will ye be wise?

He that planted the ear, shall he not hear?

He that formed the eye, shall he not see?

10 He that chastiseth the nations, shall not he correct,

Even he that teacheth man knowledge?

11 Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man,

That they are vanity.

Psalm 94:1–11 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

O •God of vengeances, Jehovah, •God of vengeances, shine forth; Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth, render the reward to the proud. How long shall the wicked, O Jehovah, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak insolence—all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? They crush thy people, O Jehovah, and afflict thine inheritance; They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless, And say, Jah will not see, neither will the God of Jacob regard it. Understand, ye brutish among the people; and ye fools, when will ye be wise? He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see? 10 He that instructeth the nations, shall not he correct—he that teacheth man knowledge? 11 Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

Psalm 94:1–11 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

O Lord, God of vengeance,

O God of vengeance, appear!

Arise, O Judge of the earth.

Give arrogant people what they deserve.

How long, O Lord, will wicked people triumph?

How long?

They ramble.

They speak arrogantly.

All troublemakers brag about themselves.

They crush your people, O Lord

They make those who belong to you suffer.

They kill widows and foreigners, and they murder orphans.

They say, “The Lord doesn’t see it.

The God of Jacob doesn’t even pay attention to it.”

Pay attention, you stupid people!

When will you become wise, you fools?

God created ears.

Do you think he can’t hear?

He formed eyes.

Do you think he can’t see?

10 He disciplines nations.

Do you think he can’t punish?

He teaches people.

Do you think he doesn’t know anything?

11 The Lord knows that people’s thoughts are pointless.

Psalm 94:1–11 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Lord, God of vengeance—

God of vengeance, appear.

Rise up, Judge of the earth;

repay the proud what they deserve.

Lord, how long will the wicked—

how long will the wicked gloat?

They pour out arrogant words;

all the evildoers boast.

Lord, they crush Your people;

they afflict Your heritage.

They kill the widow and the foreigner

and murder the fatherless.

They say, “The Lord doesn’t see it.

The God of Jacob doesn’t pay attention.”

Pay attention, you stupid people!

Fools, when will you be wise?

Can the One who shaped the ear not hear,

the One who formed the eye not see?

10 The One who instructs nations,

the One who teaches man knowledge—

does He not discipline?

11 The Lord knows man’s thoughts;

they are meaningless.

Psalm 94:1–11 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

O Lord, you God of vengeance,

you God of vengeance, shine forth!

Rise up, O judge of the earth;

give to the proud what they deserve!

O Lord, how long shall the wicked,

how long shall the wicked exult?

They pour out their arrogant words;

all the evildoers boast.

They crush your people, O Lord,

and afflict your heritage.

They kill the widow and the stranger,

they murder the orphan,

and they say, “The Lord does not see;

the God of Jacob does not perceive.”

Understand, O dullest of the people;

fools, when will you be wise?

He who planted the ear, does he not hear?

He who formed the eye, does he not see?

10 He who disciplines the nations,

he who teaches knowledge to humankind,

does he not chastise?

11 The Lord knows our thoughts,

that they are but an empty breath.

Psalm 94:1–11 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

O Yahweh, God of vengeance,

God of vengeance, shine forth.

Rise up, O Judge of the earth.

Repay upon the proud what is their rightful due.

How long will the wicked, O Yahweh,

how long will the wicked exult?

They gush words unrestrained.

All the evildoers boast.

They crush your people, O Yahweh;

they oppress your inheritance.

They kill widow and stranger,

and they murder orphans,

while they say, “Yah does not see,”

and “The God of Jacob does not pay attention.”

You pay attention, O brutes among the people.

And you fools, when will you show insight?

Will the one who planted the ear not hear?

Will the one who formed the eye not see?

10 Will the one who instructs nations not rebuke,

the one who teaches humankind knowledge?

11 Yahweh knows the thoughts of humankind,

that they are to no purpose.

Psalm 94:1–11 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Lord, you are the God who punishes.

Since you are the one who punishes, come and show your anger.

Judge of the earth, rise up.

Pay back proud people for what they have done.

Lord, how long will those who are evil be glad?

How long will they be full of joy?

Proud words pour out of their mouths.

All those who do evil are always bragging.

Lord, they crush your people.

They beat down those who belong to you.

They kill outsiders. They kill widows.

They murder children whose fathers have died.

They say, “The Lord doesn’t see what’s happening.

The God of Jacob doesn’t pay any attention to it.”

You who aren’t wise, pay attention.

You foolish people, when will you become wise?

Does he who made the ear not hear?

Does he who formed the eye not see?

10 Does he who corrects nations not punish?

Does he who teaches human beings not know anything?

11 The Lord knows what people think.

He knows that their thoughts don’t amount to anything.

Psalm 94:1–11 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

O Lord, God of vengeance,

God of vengeance, shine forth!

Rise up, O Judge of the earth,

Render recompense to the proud.

How long shall the wicked, O Lord,

How long shall the wicked exult?

They pour forth words, they speak arrogantly;

All who do wickedness vaunt themselves.

They crush Your people, O Lord,

And afflict Your heritage.

They slay the widow and the stranger

And murder the orphans.

They have said, “The Lord does not see,

Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed.”

Pay heed, you senseless among the people;

And when will you understand, stupid ones?

He who planted the ear, does He not hear?

He who formed the eye, does He not see?

10 He who chastens the nations, will He not rebuke,

Even He who teaches man knowledge?

11 The Lord knows the thoughts of man,

That they are a mere breath.
