Psalm 51:2–4 — The New International Version (NIV)

Wash away all my iniquity

and cleanse me from my sin.

and my sin is always before me.

so you are right in your verdict

and justified when you judge.

Psalm 51:2–4 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity,

And cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions:

And my sin is ever before me.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned,

And done this evil in thy sight:

That thou mightest be justified when thou speakest,

And be clear when thou judgest.

Psalm 51:2–4 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Wash me clean from my guilt.

Purify me from my sin.

For I recognize my rebellion;

it haunts me day and night.

Against you, and you alone, have I sinned;

I have done what is evil in your sight.

You will be proved right in what you say,

and your judgment against me is just.

Psalm 51:2–4 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,

And cleanse me from my sin.

For I acknowledge my transgressions,

And my sin is always before me.

Against You, You only, have I sinned,

And done this evil in Your sight—

That You may be found just when You speak,

And blameless when You judge.

Psalm 51:2–4 — New Century Version (NCV)

Wash away all my guilt

and make me clean again.

and I can’t forget my sin.

You are the only one I have sinned against;

I have done what you say is wrong.

You are right when you speak

and fair when you judge.

Psalm 51:2–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity,

And cleanse me from my sin.

For I know my transgressions;

And my sin is ever before me.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned,

And done that which is evil in thy sight;

That thou mayest be justified when thou speakest,

And be clear when thou judgest.

Psalm 51:2–4 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Wash me fully from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is continually before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in thy sight; that thou mayest be justified when thou speakest, be clear when thou judgest.

Psalm 51:2–4 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Wash me thoroughly from my guilt,

and cleanse me from my sin.

I admit that I am rebellious.

My sin is always in front of me.

I have sinned against you, especially you.

I have done what you consider evil.

So you hand down justice when you speak,

and you are blameless when you judge.

Psalm 51:2–4 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Wash away my guilt

and cleanse me from my sin.

For I am conscious of my rebellion,

and my sin is always before me.

Against You—You alone—I have sinned

and done this evil in Your sight.

So You are right when You pass sentence;

You are blameless when You judge.

Psalm 51:2–4 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,

and cleanse me from my sin.

so that you are justified in your sentence

and blameless when you pass judgment.

Psalm 51:2–4 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,

and from my sin cleanse me.

and have done this evil in your eyes,

so that you are correct when you speak,

you are blameless when you judge.

Psalm 51:2–4 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Wash away all of the evil things I’ve done.

Make me pure from my sin.

I know the lawless acts I’ve committed.

I can’t forget my sin.

You are the one I’ve really sinned against.

I’ve done what is evil in your sight.

So you are right when you sentence me.

You are fair when you judge me.

And blameless when You judge.
