Psalm 37:30–38 — The New International Version (NIV)

30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,

and their tongues speak what is just.

31 The law of their God is in their hearts;

their feet do not slip.

32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,

intent on putting them to death;

33 but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked

or let them be condemned when brought to trial.

34 Hope in the Lord

and keep his way.

He will exalt you to inherit the land;

when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.

35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man

flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,

36 but he soon passed away and was no more;

though I looked for him, he could not be found.

37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;

a future awaits those who seek peace.

38 But all sinners will be destroyed;

there will be no future for the wicked.

Psalm 37:30–38 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom,

And his tongue talketh of judgment.

31 The law of his God is in his heart;

None of his steps shall slide.

32 The wicked watcheth the righteous,

And seeketh to slay him.

33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand,

Nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way,

And he shall exalt thee to inherit the land:

When the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35 I have seen the wicked in great power,

And spreading himself like a green bay tree.

36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not:

Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright:

For the end of that man is peace.

38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together:

The end of the wicked shall be cut off.

Psalm 37:30–38 — New Living Translation (NLT)

30 The godly offer good counsel;

they teach right from wrong.

31 They have made God’s law their own,

so they will never slip from his path.

32 The wicked wait in ambush for the godly,

looking for an excuse to kill them.

33 But the Lord will not let the wicked succeed

or let the godly be condemned when they are put on trial.

34 Put your hope in the Lord.

Travel steadily along his path.

He will honor you by giving you the land.

You will see the wicked destroyed.

35 I have seen wicked and ruthless people

flourishing like a tree in its native soil.

36 But when I looked again, they were gone!

Though I searched for them, I could not find them!

37 Look at those who are honest and good,

for a wonderful future awaits those who love peace.

38 But the rebellious will be destroyed;

they have no future.

Psalm 37:30–38 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

30 The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom,

And his tongue talks of justice.

31 The law of his God is in his heart;

None of his steps shall slide.

32 The wicked watches the righteous,

And seeks to slay him.

33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand,

Nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait on the Lord,

And keep His way,

And He shall exalt you to inherit the land;

When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.

35 I have seen the wicked in great power,

And spreading himself like a native green tree.

36 Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more;

Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright;

For the future of that man is peace.

38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together;

The future of the wicked shall be cut off.

Psalm 37:30–38 — New Century Version (NCV)

30 Good people speak with wisdom,

and they say what is fair.

31 The teachings of their God are in their heart,

so they do not fail to keep them.

32 The wicked watch for good people

so that they may kill them.

33 But the Lord will not take away his protection

or let good people be judged guilty.

34 Wait for the Lord’s help

and follow him.

He will honor you and give you the land,

and you will see the wicked sent away.

35 I saw a wicked and cruel man

who looked strong like a healthy tree in good soil.

36 But he died and was gone;

I looked for him, but he couldn’t be found.

37 Think of the innocent person,

and watch the honest one.

The man who has peace

will have children to live after him.

38 But sinners will be destroyed;

in the end the wicked will die.

Psalm 37:30–38 — American Standard Version (ASV)

32 The wicked watcheth the righteous,

And seeketh to slay him.

33 Jehovah will not leave him in his hand,

Nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way,

And he will exalt thee to inherit the land:

When the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35 I have seen the wicked in great power,

And spreading himself like a green tree in its native soil.

36 But one passed by, and, lo, he was not:

Yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright;

For there is a happy end to the man of peace.

38 As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together;

The end of the wicked shall be cut off.

34 Wait for Jehovah, and keep his way, and he will exalt thee to possess the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. 35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading like a green tree in its native soil: 36 but he passed away, and behold, he was not; and I sought him, but he was not found. 37 Mark the perfect, and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace; 38 but the transgressors shall be destroyed together; the future of the wicked shall be cut off.

Psalm 37:30–38 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

30 The mouth of the righteous person reflects on wisdom.

His tongue speaks what is fair.

31 The teachings of his God are in his heart.

His feet do not slip.

32 The wicked person watches the righteous person

and seeks to kill him.

33 But the Lord will not abandon him to the wicked person’s power

or condemn him when he is brought to trial.

34 Wait with hope for the Lord, and follow his path,

and he will honor you by giving you the land.

When wicked people are cut off, you will see it.

35 I have seen a wicked person ⸤acting like⸥ a tyrant,

spreading himself out like a large cedar tree.

36 But he moved on, and now there is no trace of him.

I searched for him, but he could not be found.

37 Notice the innocent person,

and look at the decent person,

because the peacemaker has a future.

38 But rebels will be completely destroyed.

The future of wicked people will be cut off.

Psalm 37:30–38 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom;

his tongue speaks what is just.

31 The instruction of his God is in his heart;

his steps do not falter.

32 The wicked one lies in wait for the righteous

and seeks to kill him;

33 the Lord will not leave him

in the power of the wicked one

or allow him to be condemned when he is judged.

34 Wait for the Lord and keep His way,

and He will exalt you to inherit the land.

You will watch when the wicked are destroyed.

35 I have seen a wicked, violent man

well-rooted like a flourishing native tree.

36 Then I passed by and noticed he was gone;

I searched for him, but he could not be found.

37 Watch the blameless and observe the upright,

for the man of peace will have a future.

38 But transgressors will all be eliminated;

the future of the wicked will be destroyed.

Psalm 37:30–38 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

33 The Lord will not abandon them to their power,

or let them be condemned when they are brought to trial.

34 Wait for the Lord, and keep to his way,

and he will exalt you to inherit the land;

you will look on the destruction of the wicked.

35 I have seen the wicked oppressing,

and towering like a cedar of Lebanon.

36 Again I passed by, and they were no more;

though I sought them, they could not be found.

37 Mark the blameless, and behold the upright,

for there is posterity for the peaceable.

38 But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed;

the posterity of the wicked shall be cut off.

Psalm 37:30–38 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom,

and his tongue speaks justice.

31 The law of his God is in his heart.

His steps will not slip.

and seeks to kill him.

and he will exalt you to possess the land.

When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

35 I have seen the wicked acting violently

and spreading himself out

like a luxuriant native tree.

36 Then he passed on and behold, he was not.

And I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Observe the blameless and look at the upright,

for there is a future for a man of peace.

38 But transgressors shall be destroyed altogether.

The future of the wicked shall be cut off.

Psalm 37:30–38 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

30 The mouths of those who do what is right speak words of wisdom.

They say what is honest.

31 God’s law is in their hearts.

Their feet do not slip.

32 Those who are evil hide and wait for godly people.

They are trying to kill them.

33 But the Lord will not leave the godly in their power.

He will not let them be found guilty when they are brought into court.

34 Wait for the Lord to act.

Live as he wants you to.

He will honor you by giving you the land.

When sinners are cut off from it, you will see it.

35 I saw a mean and sinful person.

He was doing well, like a green tree in its own soil.

36 But he soon passed away and was gone.

Even though I looked for him, I couldn’t find him.

37 Think about those who are without blame. Look at those who are honest.

A man who loves peace will have a tomorrow.

38 But all sinners will be destroyed.

Those who are evil won’t have a tomorrow.

They will be cut off from the land.
