Job 5:8–11

8 “But if I were you, I would appeal to God;

I would lay my cause before him.

9 He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed,

miracles that cannot be counted.

10 He provides rain for the earth;

he sends water on the countryside.

11 The lowly he sets on high,

and those who mourn are lifted to safety.

8 I would seek unto God,

And unto God would I commit my cause:

9 Which doeth great things and unsearchable;

Marvellous things without number:

10 Who giveth rain upon the earth,

And sendeth waters upon the fields:

11 To set up on high those that be low;

That those which mourn may be exalted to safety.

8 “If I were you, I would go to God

and present my case to him.

9 He does great things too marvelous to understand.

He performs countless miracles.

10 He gives rain for the earth

and water for the fields.

11 He gives prosperity to the poor

and protects those who suffer.

8 “But as for me, I would seek God,

And to God I would commit my cause—

9 Who does great things, and unsearchable,

Marvelous things without number.

10 He gives rain on the earth,

And sends waters on the fields.

11 He sets on high those who are lowly,

And those who mourn are lifted to safety.

8 “But if I were you, I would call on God

and bring my problem before him.

9 God does wonders that cannot be understood;

he does so many miracles they cannot be counted.

10 He gives rain to the earth

and sends water on the fields.

11 He makes the humble person important

and lifts the sad to places of safety.

8 But as for me, I would seek unto God,

And unto God would I commit my cause;

9 Who doeth great things and unsearchable,

Marvellous things without number:

10 Who giveth rain upon the earth,

And sendeth waters upon the fields;

11 So that he setteth up on high those that are low,

And those that mourn are exalted to safety.

8 But as for me I will seek unto •God, and unto God commit my cause; 9 Who doeth great things and unsearchable, marvellous things without number; 10 Who giveth rain on the face of the earth, and sendeth waters on the face of the fields; 11 Setting up on high those that are low; and mourners are exalted to prosperity.

8 “But I would seek God’s help 

and present my case to him. 

9 He does great things that ⸤we⸥ cannot understand 

and miracles that ⸤we⸥ cannot count. 

10 He gives rain to the earth 

and sends water to the fields. 

11 He places lowly people up high. 

He lifts those who mourn to safety. 

8 However, if I were you, I would appeal to God

and would present my case to Him.

and to God I would commit my cause.

9 He is doing great and unsearchable things,

marvelous things without number—

10 the one who is giving rain on the surface of the earth

and is sending water on the surface of the fields,

11 to set the lowly on high,

and those mourning are lifted to safety.

8 “If I were you, I’d make my appeal to God.

I’d bring my case to be judged by him.

9 He does wonderful things that can’t be understood.

He does miracles that can’t even be counted.

10 He sends rain on the earth.

He sends water on the countryside.

11 He lifts up those who are lowly in spirit.

He lifts up those who are sad.

He keeps them safe.

8 “But as for me, I would seek God,

And I would place my cause before God;

9 Who does great and unsearchable things,

Wonders without number.

10 “He gives rain on the earth

And sends water on the fields,

11 So that He sets on high those who are lowly,

And those who mourn are lifted to safety.
