Isaiah 47:14–15

14  Behold, bthey are like stubble;

cthe fire consumes them;

they cannot deliver themselves

from the power of the flame.

No coal for warming oneself is this,

no fire to sit before!

15  Such to you are those with whom you have labored,

who have done business with you from your youth;

they wander about, each in his own direction;

there is no one to save you.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — The New International Version (NIV)

14 Surely they are like stubble;

the fire will burn them up.

They cannot even save themselves

from the power of the flame.

These are not coals for warmth;

this is not a fire to sit by.

15 That is all they are to you—

these you have dealt with

and labored with since childhood.

All of them go on in their error;

there is not one that can save you.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them;

They shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame:

There shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.

15 Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth:

They shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — New Living Translation (NLT)

14 But they are like straw burning in a fire;

they cannot save themselves from the flame.

You will get no help from them at all;

their hearth is no place to sit for warmth.

15 And all your friends,

those with whom you’ve done business since childhood,

will go their own ways,

turning a deaf ear to your cries.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

14 Behold, they shall be as stubble,

The fire shall burn them;

They shall not deliver themselves

From the power of the flame;

It shall not be a coal to be warmed by,

Nor a fire to sit before!

15 Thus shall they be to you

With whom you have labored,

Your merchants from your youth;

They shall wander each one to his quarter.

No one shall save you.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — New Century Version (NCV)

14 But they are like straw;

fire will quickly burn them up.

They cannot save themselves

from the power of the fire.

They are not like coals that give warmth

nor like a fire that you may sit beside.

15 You have worked with these people,

and they have been with you since you were young,

but they will not be able to help you.

Everyone will go his own way,

and there will be no one left to save you.”

Isaiah 47:14–15 — American Standard Version (ASV)

14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: it shall not be a coal to warm at, nor a fire to sit before. 15 Thus shall the things be unto thee wherein thou hast labored: they that have trafficked with thee from thy youth shall wander every one to his quarter; there shall be none to save thee.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

14 Behold, they shall be as stubble, the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it. 15 Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, they that trafficked with thee from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his own quarter; there is none to save thee.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

14 They are like straw.

Fire burns them.

They can’t rescue themselves from the flames.

There are no glowing coals to keep them warm

and no fire for them to sit by.

15 This is how it will be for those who have worked with you,

for those who have been with you ever since you were young.

They will go their own ways,

and there will be no one to save you.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

14 Look, they are like stubble;

fire burns them up.

They cannot deliver themselves

from the power of the flame.

This is not a coal for warming themselves,

or a fire to sit beside!

15 This is what they are to you—

those who have wearied you

and have traded with you from your youth—

each wanders on his own way;

no one can save you.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

14 See, they are like stubble,

the fire consumes them;

they cannot deliver themselves

from the power of the flame.

No coal for warming oneself is this,

no fire to sit before!

15 Such to you are those with whom you have labored,

who have trafficked with you from your youth;

they all wander about in their own paths;

there is no one to save you.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

14 Look! They are like stubble;

the fire burns them completely.

They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame;

there is no coal for warming oneself,

no fire before which to sit.

15 So are to you those with whom you have labored,

your traders from your youth.

They wander, each to his side;

there is no one who can save you.

Isaiah 47:14–15 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

14 They are just like straw.

Fire will burn them up.

They can’t even save themselves

from the powerful flames.

They are not like coals that can warm anyone.

They are not like a fire to sit by.

15 They can’t do you any good.

You have done business with them ever since you were a child.

You have always asked them for advice.

All of them are bewildered and continue in their own ways.

None of them can save you.”

Isaiah 47:14–15 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

14 Behold, they have become like stubble,

Fire burns them;

They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame;

There will be no coal to warm by

Nor a fire to sit before!

15 So have those become to you with whom you have labored,

Who have trafficked with you from your youth;

Each has wandered in his own way;

There is none to save you.
