Isaiah 30:29–31 — The New International Version (NIV)

29 And you will sing

as on the night you celebrate a holy festival;

your hearts will rejoice

as when people playing pipes go up

to the mountain of the Lord,

to the Rock of Israel.

30 The Lord will cause people to hear his majestic voice

and will make them see his arm coming down

with raging anger and consuming fire,

with cloudburst, thunderstorm and hail.

31 The voice of the Lord will shatter Assyria;

with his rod he will strike them down.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept;

And gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe

To come into the mountain of the Lord, to the mighty One of Israel.

30 And the Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard,

And shall shew the lighting down of his arm,

With the indignation of his anger,

And with the flame of a devouring fire,

With scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

31 For through the voice of the Lord shall the Assyrian be beaten down,

Which smote with a rod.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — New Living Translation (NLT)

29 But the people of God will sing a song of joy,

like the songs at the holy festivals.

You will be filled with joy,

as when a flutist leads a group of pilgrims

to Jerusalem, the mountain of the Lord

to the Rock of Israel.

30 And the Lord will make his majestic voice heard.

He will display the strength of his mighty arm.

It will descend with devouring flames,

with cloudbursts, thunderstorms, and huge hailstones.

31 At the Lord’s command, the Assyrians will be shattered.

He will strike them down with his royal scepter.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

29 You shall have a song

As in the night when a holy festival is kept,

And gladness of heart as when one goes with a flute,

To come into the mountain of the Lord,

To the Mighty One of Israel.

30 The Lord will cause His glorious voice to be heard,

And show the descent of His arm,

With the indignation of His anger

And the flame of a devouring fire,

With scattering, tempest, and hailstones.

31 For through the voice of the Lord

Assyria will be beaten down,

As He strikes with the rod.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — New Century Version (NCV)

29 You will sing happy songs

as on the nights you begin a festival.

You will be happy like people listening to flutes

as they come to the mountain of the Lord,

to the Rock of Israel.

30 The Lord will cause all people to hear his great voice

and to see his powerful arm come down with anger,

like a great fire that burns everything,

like a great storm with much rain and hail.

31 Assyria will be afraid when it hears the voice of the Lord,

because he will strike Assyria with a rod.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — American Standard Version (ASV)

29 Ye shall have a song as in the night when a holy feast is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come unto the mountain of Jehovah, to the Rock of Israel. 30 And Jehovah will cause his glorious voice to be heard, and will show the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast, and tempest, and hailstones. 31 For through the voice of Jehovah shall the Assyrian be dismayed; with his rod will he smite him.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a feast is sanctified; and joy of heart, as of one who goeth with a pipe to come unto the mountain of Jehovah, to the Rock of Israel. 30 And Jehovah will cause the majesty of his voice to be heard, and will shew the lighting down of his arm with indignation of anger, and a flame of consuming fire, with waterflood and storm and hailstones. 31 For through the voice of Jehovah shall the Assyrian be broken down: he will smite him with the rod.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

29 You will sing a song

like the song you sing on a festival night.

Your hearts will be happy like someone going out with a flute

on the way to the Lord’s mountain, to the rock of Israel.

30 The Lord will make his majestic voice heard.

He will come down with all his might,

with furious anger,

with fire storms, windstorms, rainstorms, and hailstones.

31 At the sound of the Lord, the people of Assyria will be shattered.

He will strike them with his rod.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

29 Your singing will be like that

on the night of a holy festival,

and your heart will rejoice

like one who walks to the music of a flute,

going up to the mountain of the Lord,

to the Rock of Israel.

30 And the Lord will make the splendor of His voice heard

and reveal His arm striking in angry wrath

and a flame of consuming fire,

in driving rain, a torrent, and hailstones.

31 Assyria will be shattered by the voice of the Lord.

He will strike with a rod.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

29 You shall have a song as in the night when a holy festival is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one sets out to the sound of the flute to go to the mountain of the Lord, to the Rock of Israel. 30 And the Lord will cause his majestic voice to be heard and the descending blow of his arm to be seen, in furious anger and a flame of devouring fire, with a cloudburst and tempest and hailstones. 31 The Assyrian will be terror-stricken at the voice of the Lord, when he strikes with his rod.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

29 You shall have a song as in the night when a holy festival is kept,

and a gladness of heart like one who goes with the flute,

to go to the mountain of Yahweh, to the rock of Israel.

30 And Yahweh will cause the majesty of his voice to be heard,

and he will cause the descent of his arm to be seen,

in furious anger and a flame of devouring fire,

with a cloudburst and a rainstorm and stones of hail.

31 Indeed, Assyria will be shattered by the voice of Yahweh;

he strikes with the rod.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

29 You will sing

as you do on the night you celebrate a holy feast.

Your hearts will be filled with joy.

You will be as joyful as people playing their flutes

as they go up to the mountain of the Lord.

He is the Rock of Israel.

30 The Lord will cause people to hear his powerful voice.

He will make them see his arm coming down to punish them.

It will come down with burning anger and destroying fire.

It will come down with rain, thunderstorms and hail.

31 The voice of the Lord will tear the Assyrians apart.

He will strike them down with his mighty rod.

Isaiah 30:29–31 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

29 You will have songs as in the night when you keep the festival,

And gladness of heart as when one marches to the sound of the flute,

To go to the mountain of the Lord, to the Rock of Israel.

30 And the Lord will cause His voice of authority to be heard,

And the descending of His arm to be seen in fierce anger,

And in the flame of a consuming fire

In cloudburst, downpour and hailstones.

31 For at the voice of the Lord Assyria will be terrified,

When He strikes with the rod.
