sother lords besides you have ruled over us,

tbut your name alone we bring to remembrance.

14  They are dead, they will not live;

they are shades, they will not arise;

to that end you have visited them with destruction

and wiped out all remembrance of them.

15  uBut you have increased the nation, O Lord,

you have increased the nation; you are glorified;

vyou have enlarged all the borders of the land.

16  O Lord, win distress they sought you;

Isaiah 26:13–16 — The New International Version (NIV)

13 Lord our God, other lords besides you have ruled over us,

but your name alone do we honor.

14 They are now dead, they live no more;

their spirits do not rise.

You punished them and brought them to ruin;

you wiped out all memory of them.

15 You have enlarged the nation, Lord;

you have enlarged the nation.

You have gained glory for yourself;

you have extended all the borders of the land.

16 Lord, they came to you in their distress;

when you disciplined them,

they could barely whisper a prayer.

Isaiah 26:13–16 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

13 O Lord our God,

Other lords beside thee have had dominion over us:

But by thee only will we make mention of thy name.

14 They are dead, they shall not live;

They are deceased, they shall not rise:

Therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them,

And made all their memory to perish.

15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord,

Thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified:

Thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.

16 Lord, In trouble have they visited thee,

They poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.

Isaiah 26:13–16 — New Living Translation (NLT)

13 O Lord our God, others have ruled us,

but you alone are the one we worship.

14 Those we served before are dead and gone.

Their departed spirits will never return!

You attacked them and destroyed them,

and they are long forgotten.

15 O Lord, you have made our nation great;

yes, you have made us great.

You have extended our borders,

and we give you the glory!

16 Lord, in distress we searched for you.

We prayed beneath the burden of your discipline.

Isaiah 26:13–16 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

13 O Lord our God, masters besides You

Have had dominion over us;

But by You only we make mention of Your name.

14 They are dead, they will not live;

They are deceased, they will not rise.

Therefore You have punished and destroyed them,

And made all their memory to perish.

15 You have increased the nation, O Lord,

You have increased the nation;

You are glorified;

You have expanded all the borders of the land.

16 Lord, in trouble they have visited You,

They poured out a prayer when Your chastening was upon them.

Isaiah 26:13–16 — New Century Version (NCV)

13 Lord, our God, other masters besides you have ruled us,

but we honor only you.

14 Those masters are now dead;

their ghosts will not rise from death.

You punished and destroyed them

and erased any memory of them.

15 Lord, you multiplied the number of your people;

you multiplied them and brought honor to yourself.

You made the borders of the land wide.

16 Lord, people remember you when they are in trouble;

they say quiet prayers to you when you punish them.

Isaiah 26:13–16 — American Standard Version (ASV)

13 O Jehovah our God, other lords besides thee have had dominion over us; but by thee only will we make mention of thy name. 14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all remembrance of them to perish. 15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Jehovah, thou hast increased the nation; thou art glorified; thou hast enlarged all the borders of the land.

13 Jehovah our God, other lords than thee have had dominion over us; by thee only will we make mention of thy name. 14 They are dead, they shall not live; deceased, they shall not rise: for thou hast visited and destroyed them, and made all memory of them to perish. 15 Thou hast increased the nation, Jehovah, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified. Thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth. 16 Jehovah, in trouble they sought thee; they poured out their whispered prayer when thy chastening was upon them.

You have punished them, destroyed them,

and wiped out all memory of them.

15 You have expanded the nation, O Lord

They were humbled by oppression, by your discipline upon them.

You have wiped out all memory of them.

15 You have added to the nation, Lord.

You have added to the nation; You are honored.

You have expanded all the borders of the land.

they poured out whispered prayers

because Your discipline fell on them.

they poured out a prayer

when your chastening was on them.

dead spirits do not rise

because you have punished and destroyed them,

and you have destroyed all memory of them.

15 You have added to the nation, Yahweh.

You have added to the nation; you are honored.

You have extended all the ends of the land.

16 Yahweh, in distress they have visited you;

they poured out an incantation;

your discipline was on them.

Other masters besides you have ruled over us.

But your name is the only one we honor.

They will never live again.

Their spirits won’t rise from the dead.

You punished them and destroyed them.

You wiped out all memory of them.

15 Lord, you have made our nation grow.

You have made it larger.

You have gained glory for yourself.

You have increased the size of our land.

16 Lord, when your people were suffering, they came to you.

When you punished them,

they could barely whisper a prayer.

You have increased the nation, You are glorified;

You have extended all the borders of the land.

16 O Lord, they sought You in distress;

They could only whisper a prayer,

Your chastening was upon them.
