Isaiah 26:18–19 — The New International Version (NIV)

18 We were with child, we writhed in labor,

but we gave birth to wind.

We have not brought salvation to the earth,

and the people of the world have not come to life.

19 But your dead will live, Lord;

their bodies will rise—

let those who dwell in the dust

wake up and shout for joy—

your dew is like the dew of the morning;

the earth will give birth to her dead.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

18 We have been with child, we have been in pain,

We have as it were brought forth wind;

We have not wrought any deliverance in the earth;

Neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

19 Thy dead men shall live,

Together with my dead body shall they arise.

Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust:

For thy dew is as the dew of herbs,

And the earth shall cast out the dead.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — New Living Translation (NLT)

18 We, too, writhe in agony,

but nothing comes of our suffering.

We have not given salvation to the earth,

nor brought life into the world.

19 But those who die in the Lord will live;

their bodies will rise again!

Those who sleep in the earth

will rise up and sing for joy!

For your life-giving light will fall like dew

on your people in the place of the dead!

Isaiah 26:18–19 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

18 We have been with child, we have been in pain;

We have, as it were, brought forth wind;

We have not accomplished any deliverance in the earth,

Nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

19 Your dead shall live;

Together with my dead body they shall arise.

Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust;

For your dew is like the dew of herbs,

And the earth shall cast out the dead.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — New Century Version (NCV)

18 In the same way, we had pain.

We gave birth, but only to wind.

We don’t bring salvation to the land

or make new people for the world.

19 Your people have died, but they will live again;

their bodies will rise from death.

You who lie in the ground,

wake up and be happy!

The dew covering you is like the dew of a new day;

the ground will give birth to the dead.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — American Standard Version (ASV)

18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. 19 Thy dead shall live; my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in the dust; for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast forth the dead.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

18 We have been with child, we have been in travail, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought the deliverance of the land, neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. 19 Thy dead shall live, my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing in triumph, ye that dwell in dust; for thy dew is the dew of the morning, and the earth shall cast forth the dead.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

18 We were pregnant; we writhed with labor pains

only to give birth to the wind.

We weren’t able to bring salvation to the land,

and no new people were born on earth.

19 Your dead will live.

Their corpses will rise.

Those who lie dead in the dust will wake up and shout for joy,

because your dew is a refreshing dew,

and the earth will revive the spirits of the dead.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

18 We became pregnant, we writhed in pain;

we gave birth to wind.

We have won no victories on earth,

and the earth’s inhabitants have not fallen.

19 Your dead will live; their bodies will rise.

Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust!

For you will be covered with the morning dew,

and the earth will bring out the departed spirits.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

18 we were with child, we writhed,

but we gave birth only to wind.

We have won no victories on earth,

and no one is born to inhabit the world.

19 Your dead shall live, their corpses shall rise.

O dwellers in the dust, awake and sing for joy!

For your dew is a radiant dew,

and the earth will give birth to those long dead.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

18 We became pregnant, we writhed;

we gave birth to wind.

We cannot bring about deliverance on the earth,

and no inhabitants of the world are born.

19 Your dead shall live; their corpses shall rise.

Wake up and sing for joy, dwellers of the dust,

for your dew is celestial dew,

and the earth will give birth to dead spirits.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

18 We were pregnant. We groaned with pain.

But nothing was born.

We didn’t bring your saving power to the earth.

We didn’t give life to the people of the world.

19 Israel, those among you who have died will live again.

Their bodies will rise from the dead.

You who lie in the grave,

wake up and shout with joy.

The dew of the morning gives life to the earth.

So the earth will give up its dead people.

Isaiah 26:18–19 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

18 We were pregnant, we writhed in labor,

We gave birth, as it seems, only to wind.

We could not accomplish deliverance for the earth,

Nor were inhabitants of the world born.

19 Your dead will live;

Their corpses will rise.

You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy,

For your dew is as the dew of the dawn,

And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits.
