Hebrews 8:6–7
Hebrews 8:6–7 — The New International Version (NIV)
6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — New Living Translation (NLT)
6 But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.
7 If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant to replace it.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — New Century Version (NCV)
6 But the priestly work that has been given to Jesus is much greater than the work that was given to the other priests. In the same way, the new agreement that Jesus brought from God to his people is much greater than the old one. And the new agreement is based on promises of better things.
7 If there had been nothing wrong with the first agreement, there would have been no need for a second agreement.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — American Standard Version (ASV)
6 But now hath he obtained a ministry the more excellent, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which hath been enacted upon better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for a second.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
6 But now he has got a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is mediator of a better covenant, which is established on the footing of better promises. 7 For if that first was faultless, place had not been sought for a second.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
6 Jesus has been given a priestly work that is superior to the Levitical priests’ work. He also brings a better promisefrom God that is based on better guarantees. 7 If nothing had been wrong with the first promise, no one would look for another one.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
6 But Jesus has now obtained a superior ministry, and to that degree He is the mediator of a better covenant, which has been legally enacted on better promises.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion for a second one.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
6 But Jesus has now obtained a more excellent ministry, and to that degree he is the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted through better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need to look for a second one.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
6 But now he has attained a more excellent ministry, by as much as he is also mediator of a better covenant which has been enacted upon better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, occasion would not have been sought for a second.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)
6 Jesus has been given a greater work to do for God. He is the go-between for the new covenant. That covenant is better than the old one. It is based on better promises.
7 Suppose nothing had been wrong with that first covenant. Then no one would have looked for another covenant.
Hebrews 8:6–7 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)
6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.
