Matthew 4:2–4

2 And after fasting uforty days and forty nights, he vwas hungry. 3 And wthe tempter came and said to him, “If you are xthe Son of God, command ythese stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But he answered, z“It is written,

a“ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
