Isaiah 57:3–6

But you, draw near,

sons of the sorceress,

uoffspring of the adulterer and the loose woman.

Whom are you mocking?

Against whom vdo you open your mouth wide

and stick out your tongue?

Are you not children of wtransgression,

xthe offspring of deceit,

you who burn with lust among ythe oaks,1

under every green tree,

zwho slaughter your children in the valleys,

under the clefts of the rocks?

Among the smooth stones of athe valley is your portion;

they, they, are your lot;

Isaiah 57:3–6 — The New International Version (NIV)

“But you—come here, you children of a sorceress,

you offspring of adulterers and prostitutes!

Who are you mocking?

At whom do you sneer

and stick out your tongue?

Are you not a brood of rebels,

the offspring of liars?

You burn with lust among the oaks

and under every spreading tree;

you sacrifice your children in the ravines

and under the overhanging crags.

The idols among the smooth stones of the ravines are your portion;

indeed, they are your lot.

Yes, to them you have poured out drink offerings

and offered grain offerings.

In view of all this, should I relent?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress,

The seed of the adulterer and the whore.

Against whom do ye sport yourselves?

Against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue?

Are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,

Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree,

Slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?

Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion;

They, they are thy lot:

Even to them hast thou poured a drink offering,

Thou hast offered a meat offering.

Should I receive comfort in these?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — New Living Translation (NLT)

“But you—come here, you witches’ children,

you offspring of adulterers and prostitutes!

Whom do you mock,

making faces and sticking out your tongues?

You children of sinners and liars!

You worship your idols with great passion

beneath the oaks and under every green tree.

You sacrifice your children down in the valleys,

among the jagged rocks in the cliffs.

Your gods are the smooth stones in the valleys.

You worship them with liquid offerings and grain offerings.

They, not I, are your inheritance.

Do you think all this makes me happy?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

“But come here,

You sons of the sorceress,

You offspring of the adulterer and the harlot!

Whom do you ridicule?

Against whom do you make a wide mouth

And stick out the tongue?

Are you not children of transgression,

Offspring of falsehood,

Inflaming yourselves with gods under every green tree,

Slaying the children in the valleys,

Under the clefts of the rocks?

Among the smooth stones of the stream

Is your portion;

They, they, are your lot!

Even to them you have poured a drink offering,

You have offered a grain offering.

Should I receive comfort in these?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — New Century Version (NCV)

“Come here, you magicians!

Come here, you children of prostitutes and those who take part in adultery!

Of whom are you making fun?

Whom are you insulting?

At whom do you stick out your tongue?

You turn against God,

and you are liars.

You have sexual relations under every green tree

to worship your gods.

You kill children in the ravines

and sacrifice them in the rocky places.

You take the smooth rocks from the ravines

as your portion.

You pour drink offerings on them to worship them,

and you give grain offerings to them.

Do you think this makes me want to show you mercy?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — American Standard Version (ASV)

But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the harlot. Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and put out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood, ye that inflame yourselves among the oaks, under every green tree; that slay the children in the valleys, under the clefts of the rocks? Among the smooth stones of the valley is thy portion; they, they are thy lot; even to them hast thou poured a drink-offering, thou hast offered an oblation. Shall I be appeased for these things?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the harlot. Against whom do ye sport yourselves? Against whom do ye make a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? Are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood, inflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clefts of the rocks? Among the smooth stones of the torrent is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured out a drink-offering, thou hast offered an oblation. Shall I be comforted myself as to these things?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

But you—come here,

you children of witches,

you descendants of adulterers and prostitutes!

Whom are you making fun of?

Whom are you making a face at?

Whom are you sticking out your tongue at?

Aren’t you rebellious children,

descendants of liars?

You burn with lust under oak trees

and under every large tree.

You slaughter children in the valleys

and under the cracks in the rocks.

Your idols are among the smooth stones in the ravine.

They are your destiny.

You have given them wine offerings

and sacrificed grain offerings to them.

Do you think I am pleased with all this?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

But come here,

you sons of a sorceress,

offspring of an adulterer and a prostitute!

Who is it you are mocking?

Who is it you are opening your mouth

and sticking out your tongue at?

Isn’t it you, you rebellious children,

you race of liars,

who burn with lust among the oaks,

under every green tree,

who slaughter children in the wadis

below the clefts of the rocks?

Your portion is among the smooth stones of the wadi;

indeed, they are your lot.

You have even poured out a drink offering to them;

you have offered a grain offering;

should I be satisfied with these?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

But as for you, come here,

you children of a sorceress,

you offspring of an adulterer and a whore.

Whom are you mocking?

Against whom do you open your mouth wide

and stick out your tongue?

Are you not children of transgression,

the offspring of deceit—

you that burn with lust among the oaks,

under every green tree;

you that slaughter your children in the valleys,

under the clefts of the rocks?

Among the smooth stones of the valley is your portion;

they, they, are your lot;

to them you have poured out a drink offering,

you have brought a grain offering.

Shall I be appeased for these things?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

“But you, come near here, you children of a soothsayer,

offspring of an adulterer and she who commits fornication.

At whom do you make fun?

At whom do you open your mouth and stick out your tongue?

Are you not children of transgression,

offspring of deception,

who burn with lust among the oaks,

under every leafy tree,

who slaughter children in the valleys,

under the clefts of the rocks?

Your portion is among the smooth stones of the valley;

they, they are your lot;

indeed, to them you have poured out a drink offering,

you have brought a food offering.

Shall I relent concerning these things?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

The Lord says, “Come here,

you children of women who practice evil magic!

You are children of prostitutes and those who commit adultery.

Who are you making fun of?

Who are you laughing at?

Who are you sticking your tongue out at?

You are people who refuse to obey me.

You are just a bunch of liars!

You burn with sinful longing among the oak trees.

You worship your gods by having sex under every green tree.

You sacrifice your children in the valleys.

You also do it under the cliffs.

You have chosen some of the smooth stones in the valleys to be your gods.

You have joined yourselves to them.

You have even poured out drink offerings to them.

You have given grain offerings to them.

So why should I take pity on you?

Isaiah 57:3–6 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

“But come here, you sons of a sorceress,

Offspring of an adulterer and a prostitute.

Against whom do you jest?

Against whom do you open wide your mouth

And stick out your tongue?

Are you not children of rebellion,

Offspring of deceit,

Who inflame yourselves among the oaks,

Under every luxuriant tree,

Who slaughter the children in the ravines,

Under the clefts of the crags?

“Among the smooth stones of the ravine

Is your portion, they are your lot;

Even to them you have poured out a drink offering,

You have made a grain offering.

Shall I relent concerning these things?
